Visited G7 Frog Leg & Live Seafood again recently after many years away in China, and I have to say, it was genuinely satisfying to find that the standard and flavours have remained remarkably consistent even after all this time. The food quality here is still very good, especially the signature frog leg porridge. The porridge itself was soft, smooth, and comforting, pairing perfectly with the rich kung pao-style frog legs which carried a nice balance of savoury, slightly spicy, and aromatic flavours. It honestly still rivals many of the more prominent frog porridge spots along the Geylang stretch, which says quite a lot considering how competitive that category is in Singapore. There’s a nostalgic consistency to the flavours here that longtime customers would probably appreciate. The environment was comfortable overall. It’s an open-air restaurant setup with quite a generous seating layout, so despite the crowd, it never really felt too cramped or stressful. The spacing between tables was decent and the overall dining experience felt relatively relaxed for a Friday evening. Service-wise, food ordering and serving were prompt, and dishes arrived fairly quickly. However, the service felt mostly reactive rather than proactive throughout the meal. For example, after my second order of fried chicken arrived, my table was already cluttered with used plates, yet nobody checked in to clear the table or offer a fresh plate. I bring this up mainly because the restaurant does impose a service charge at the end of the meal, so naturally there’s an expectation for slightly more attentive table service. What also felt slightly strange was how heavily staffed the restaurant appeared to be that evening. At one point, there were around six or seven crew members standing nearby watching while I was eating, which honestly felt a little awkward. The staffing level seemed unusually high relative to the actual level of service attentiveness being delivered. Still, the food quality alone makes this a place worth revisiting.
View on GoogleRecently visited G7 Seafood & Frog Porridge, this place really hits the spot if you’re craving classic Singapore-style zi char and frog porridge supper. The restaurant has that old-school local coffee shop vibe; crowded, noisy, slightly chaotic, but somehow that’s part of the experience and charm. The highlight here is definitely the famous claypot frog porridge. The frog meat was surprisingly tender and smooth, while the dark sauce gravy was thick, savoury, and super fragrant with ginger and spring onion. It pairs insanely well with the plain porridge, which was silky, comforting, and simple enough to balance out the stronger flavours from the frog pot. Mixing the sauce into the porridge honestly makes every bite super addictive. Besides the frog porridge, the zi char dishes were pretty solid too. The sambal lala was fresh and flavourful with a nice spicy kick, and the salted egg fish skin was dangerously addictive; crispy, rich, and packed with salted egg flavour. The tofu dish was simple but comforting, especially with the minced meat sauce on top. What I liked most is that this feels like the kind of place you come with friends or family for a casual late-night meal. The portions are decent for sharing and the overall atmosphere feels very local and authentic.

View on GoogleThis is my Nth visit to G7 Frog Porridge & Live Seafood, and the frog leg claypot here has never failed to satisfy my taste buds. This time, we had the buy 4 get 2 free promotion for the frog legs — 3 cooked in Kung Pao style and 3 in ginger & spring onion style. Both were very enjoyable in their own way. The Kung Pao version was rich, savoury and flavourful, while the ginger & spring onion version brought out the natural sweetness of the frog legs beautifully. Paired with their fragrant porridge, it was a very satisfying meal. We also ordered the garlic roast chicken, which was excellent, and the long beans with dried shrimp, which was fragrant, crunchy and very appetising. Overall, G7 remains a place I keep coming back to.
View on GoogleFrog porridge is, in my opinion, one of the best dishes that truly represents Singapore. Today, I brought a friend who just arrived from China here for her very first meal in Singapore, and it was a great choice. It was my first time visiting this restaurant, and everything was very good. The frog porridge was delicious, and the cereal prawns were also excellent. Special thanks to Jack — his service was attentive, professional, and very thorough. Overall, a very satisfying experience. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
