Located on Racecourse Road, Banana Leaf Apolo is one of the most well known spots in Little India. For good reason; the food is great, the service is good, and the prices are reasonable. On this occasion I got their signature dish, which is fish head curry. This is a dish that never fails to impress. There’s a lot of fish meat here (serious amount of protein), with a good amount of veggies. The curry sauce is excellent and best appreciated over plain white rice. Delicious! Also ordered was the onion pokaras. They were excellent and had a little bit of a spicy kick to them. Loved them! For drinks I had a watermelon juice and a sweet lassi, both of which were nice and refreshing. I can’t say enough about this restaurant. I’m in and out of Singapore now and again, and I try and stop in whenever I’m here. I’m def an international regular! Little India is such a cool area, as it’s vibrant, colorful, and true to itself. The area has changed a lot in the past decade (a ton of new high-rise apartment buildings, and more mainstream Western hotels), but places like Banana Leaf Apolo are established icons that I hope will continue to be around for a long, long while. When you’re in SG, and specifically LI, this is a place you should try.
View on GoogleI was here today (21 JULY 2026) with my wife, our daughter and our son-in-law for lunch. It has been a while since my wife and I were last here, and it was nice to see this place still going strong. We ordered the following here today: 3x Plain Rice with 2 Vegetables, Biryani Rice with 2 Vegetables, Chicken 65 Large, Fish Cutlet 2 Pieces, Mutton Masala Large, 3x Lime Juice and a Teh Tarik. Overall, the food here was very good - flavourful but not overly "spiced" to rob the tongue of the ingredients therein. Service here was very good - courteous and obliging and attentive. The dining ambience here was very good with comfortable seating and in air-conditioned comfort. I highly recommend this place for a very good Indian banana leaf rice experience.
View on GoogleI highly recommend Banana Leaf Apolo Restaurant for hosting special events! I booked their 2nd-floor venue for my mum’s 70th birthday, and it was the perfect choice. The space is excellent, featuring a spacious buffet area and a dedicated stage for decorations and cake cutting. They also provided beautifully decorated tables, chairs, and a DJ system with microphones for hosting. The food is outstanding. For the first event, we chose the South Indian package featuring their incredible signature Chicken Masala. We were so satisfied that I booked them again for my daughter’s 21st birthday, this time opting for the North Indian package. Our guests gave us so many compliments on the amazing taste! On top of all, the service was truly top-notch. Mr. Ragu coordinated everything perfectly, and Mr. Michael assisted us kindly throughout the entire event. If you want top-notch flavor and an affordable event venue, Banana Leaf is the place to go!
View on GoogleOne of the go to places . My favorite are below Spl masala chicken 5/5 . Mouth watering, looks very spicy but taste bit mild though dark red. Goes well with rice and chapathi Cabbage kootu : 5/5 . I am not a cabbage lover . But the preparation here is too good . Little sweet . Baby squid 5/5 , i rate this as best in Singapore based on other restaurants have tried
