Hainan Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee at Golden Mile Food Centre is known for its distinctive dry-style Hokkien prawn mee, a rarity compared to the usual wetter versions. The noodles—yellow noodles mixed with thin bee hoon—are stir-fried patiently until they fully absorb a rich prawn and pork broth, resulting in a flavour-packed yet non-saucy plate. Each serving comes with prawns, squid, slices of pork, and egg, offering a balanced mix of textures. There’s a light wok hei aroma and subtle garlicky notes that make it satisfying. The sambal chilli adds a gentle heat, while fresh chilli padi gives an extra punch. Expect small portions but bold, nostalgic flavours.

I visited this stall after hearing it’s supposedly one of the best hokkien mee in Singapore as it kept coming up on Ryan’s GetFed show whenever “best hokkien mee” was mentioned, so I went in with high expectations. Unfortunately, I left disappointed (though I’ll still be watching the show). First, $5 gets you a single ladle-sized portion, small enough that I was still hungry after finishing it. Second, the taste was decent, but nowhere near good enough to justify the “best in Singapore” reputation. Lastly, Shiok Hokkien Mee is just one level up in the same food centre, and $6 there gets you double the portion with noticeably better wok hei. You be the judge, but we won’t be returning

Only have the $5 version and nothing else. Was hoping for $8 but auntie said nope. Either u buy 2 plates which is $5 x 2. Portion was too small and suggest go for 2 plates. Taste wise was still ok. Used tk be my favorite back then but now, I feel taste has lost Abit. Still unique taste thou.

This is a very popular fried hokkien prawn mee stall. Usually there is a long queue. I did not quite like it as it is more towards the dry version of hokkien mee, enhance slightly more oily. But the old uncle does fry it well, and u can taste the slight wok hai taste in the bee hoon. Portions in my opinion was towards the small side thought.

Solidly below average hokkien mee, a 2/5 at best. Noodles had no taste and had this weird sticky consistency, would have been better if it was just slightly wetter or drier. Uncle cooks in batches so the queue can be quite fast if you arrive at the right time.
