I recently visited Tiong Bahru Bakery after a friend recommended it as a meeting spot, and it turned out to be a delightful choice. The bakery itself is cozy and inviting, with a charming selection of pastries that immediately caught my attention. I tried the chicken meatballs wrapped in pastry with rich tomato sauce — and wow, this was more than just a decorative dish. The meatball was hearty and protein-packed, making the pastry both delicious and satisfying. Curiosity led me to the mango sticky rice pastry, which at first sounded like an odd fusion. To my surprise, it worked beautifully! The sweet-savory balance, enhanced by a little capsule of coconut milk, created a unique flavor experience that felt like a playful Asian twist on classic pastry-making. The coffee was also excellent, rounding out the meal perfectly. Overall, Tiong Bahru Bakery delivered a memorable experience with creative flavors and quality execution. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something beyond the ordinary, and I look forward to visiting again.
View on GoogleOpen on cny day 2, surprisingly half empty despite snaking queues at neighbouring cafes. Not all TBBs are the same -- this outlet executes iced drinks exceedingly well. Both iced hojicha and iced matcha were oomphy, milky, and not watered down in the least. Mushroom with brie croissant is a new found favourite. Bursts of umami in every bite. Paired with apple kouign amann which countered the savoury with its flaky sweetness, it was an enjoyable meal for 2pax. Service was adequate and unobtrusive. Only gripe is that the hanging light above the booth seat is too bright and hurts eyes. We'll definitely be back again and soon.
View on GoogleFor us, it’s the default standard by which bakeries are measured. Consistently high quality bakes and pastries. Tea break time. Lychee Strawberry Rose croissant sounds very sweet but it’s not. It’s mildly sweet, very balanced and fragrant. Black Sesame choux is nice too. Shiok.
View on GoogleLoved the food and vibe of this place. Perfect for breakfast. Loved the coffee and bakery specially the Spring onion cream cheese shiopan. They serve water on self service and the overall service is quick
View on GoogleThe place is quite nice, I really love it for WFH and coming with my dog. It’s just at times the staff service is not so consistent: at times they are quite nice, but other days they barely say a friendly welcome or hi back to you. I’d say that should be a norm on a quite competitive coffee market, to at least make feel your customers as if it’s home. One last thing, one time I saw an AngMo pulling his 4 year old girl on the pastry bar, bare feet. As customer at the site, it was quite a bit uncomfortable and unhygienic. An unpleasant issue which i escalated it to the store manager. I know it’s not responsibility of the store but common sense on the guy, but at least the staff could have flagged it to the customer to safeguard hygienic conditions. Can improve - yes! Please do so! I thought even if I come here quite often, there will be a smile on their face at least.
