Had a nice meal at Lau Wang Claypot. We went on a weekday evening and it was quite crowded. We tried the sesame oil chicken, chicken herbal soup, traditional Nyonya chap chye, and stir-fried spinach with garlic. The food came pretty quickly after ordering, which was great. Portions were also just nice for three people to share. The dishes were tasty and comforting and pair really nicely with a bowl of rice — it really feels like home-cooked food. Prices are affordable and definitely value for money, making it a good spot for a casual meal. A satisfying experience overall — would come back to try other dishes.
View on GoogleThe limited time roasted pork with curry leaves was delicious. Tender pork with hints of curry from the curry leaves, not too salty and full of flavour. The sesame oil chicken was great too, with juicy chicken pieces in a rich sauce. The nyonya chap chye and qing long vegetables were a nice way to balance the meat dishes, fresh and aromatic. The frog leg herbal soup was alright, though I felt the frog leg didn’t go that well with the soup, and the meat was a bit too chewy. Overall a really good place for a meal, with great dishes full of flavour. There was a short queue for dinner but we were seated within 10 minutes. Do note that the tables are on the smaller side so you may feel a tad cramped.
View on GoogleFirst time trying Lau Wang Claypot at this outlet, although I’ve had it at a few of their other outlets before. The chicken was good — tender and flavourful, as usual. 👍 The fried dumplings, though, were a bit disappointing. Fillings were a bit bland though the crunchiness of the water chestnuts was nice. Overall, still a decent meal, but I think I’ll stick to the claypot chicken next time! 😋
View on GoogleThis is my first time trying Lau Wang Claypot! To sum up my experience, it's simply delicious! I came during non-peak hour so I could find plenty of empty seats (during peak hour there was a long queue btw!) and the service was fast! Different types of payment available & you can scan the QR code to order. The food for 2 pax was worth the money (see the pics) - plenty of option with seasonal dishes as well! $42 for 4 dishes + Rice + Drinks! Super worth imo! Once again! As a Concerned Citizen, I am delivering the deets to you :)
View on GoogleI have been eating at laowang for years, since they first opened at the serangoon outlet. However i am disappointed to find out that the food standard has been dropping by a lot, for this particular outlet. I hesitated to write this review as I wanted to give the food many rounds of fair testing. However, after at least 10+ times of trying, it is sad to say that the sesame oil chicken at this specific outlet, which they are supposed to be famous for, is EXTREMELY diluted, rushed in the cooking process, and tastes NOTHING like what the original outlet had served. Hope that the cooking process can be looked into to improve food quality - yes I can empathize with the fact that many portions are prepared daily under time constraints. However, other outlets do not face the same issue - for example I have zero complaints regarding the food served at the Jurong outlet.
