Arrived here for an early dinner, hence there were many seats available. Interior was cozy and somewhat warm, paired with soft yellow ambient lighting. There was still the SG 60 promotion running, so I ordered that with my friend. It was Chirashi Don with Miso Soup and truffle chawanmushi. The other ordered a Giant Prawn Donburi with the same side dishes, since it was the SG 61 promotion. The food arrived pretty quickly. Truffle chawanmushi tasted uniquely delicious, miso soup was fragrant and not overwhelmingly salty. Green tea was fragrant too. The Chirashi Don was spectacular. Definitely something to try as it had lots of cubed sashimi blocks. It tasted fresh too, with the wasabi and the unique sweet soya sauce. There was also ginger to cleanse the palette, and the rice was garnished delectably too! Overall, it's a good place to indulge in quality Japanese food. Do give it a try with your family and friends!

We ordered the SG60 promo set (2× chirashi don, 2× chawanmushi, 2× soup, and 2× refillable drinks), along with a salmon mentai don and a black garlic pork cheek ramen. The salmon mentai don’s meat was soft and tender. The mentai tasted so good!! The ramen was rich and flavourful, with beautifully aromatic pork cheek. The meal was incredibly satisfying and very filling overall. The chirashi don had generous cuts of fresh sashimi, and the tobiko portion was just right. I also appreciated the pickled ginger—it was addictive and really elevated the whole experience. Service was fast and friendly, making the visit even more enjoyable. I’d definitely come back again, especially for their chirashi don.

Chanced upon this special place on level 3 of PLQ Mall. Atmosphere is reminiscent of the small izakayas and eateries in Japan. Just 3 tables and counter seating make for a cozy environment, but the food is the star. Their signature Chiraishi Don is a must order, with fresh sashimi cubes on a plate of fragrant seasoned rice good enough to eat on its own. One of the best I’ve had. The Hotate Salmon Don was also succulent and flavorful. Am saving this place for future visits!

Update 12/5/26 - Brought a friend here and she loved the No8 signature Chirashi too. There is now an ongoing promotion for this item at $60 for two sets (see photo of poster) which we missed ‘cos we didn’t see poster until we were about to leave and staff didn’t tell us. 📍If you plan to come, remember to ask about PROMOTION! Lunched here 3x in April 2026 after watching movies on weekdays. And each time I ordered the same but superb signature #8 Chirashi Don that comes with miso soup. ❤️ beautifully presented fish on rice bowl. The different colours of fish, octopus, pickles, eggs, cucumber and ginger add up to a visual feast which I absolutely adore. Showed that the rice bowl was thoughtfully and carefully prepared with passion and sincerity ❤️ chunks of fish are fresh, and I enjoyed the different textures. There were variety in taste and mouthfeel ❤️ the rice mixed with Japanese seasoning & sesame seeds was outstanding and I always finished every grain 👍 I normally go light on carbs especially plain white rice! ❤️ a very good balance of protein, fibre and carbs making it a great hearty meal for health conscious folks like me. Best of all, the rice bowl is very filling. I was comfortable until dinner. ❤️ Service staff were young, attentive with positive attitude. Food served within minutes. Tables, cutlery & floor were clean. Ample space between tables. Eatery owner was present during my three visits - friendly, not pushy, observant & helpful. He told me to place my beloved handbag on an unused chair👍 😬 I declined the eatery’s famous soya sauce ‘cos I prefer the seafood’s natural flavours. I’m also watching my sodium intake 😬 the miso soup was always a tad too rich for me and I just asked for hot water to be added, which the service staff would obliged without fuss 😬 nett price for lunch was about $31 but it’s money well spent for great quality food! ❤️ Donburi King has a grilled fish eatery next door. So if this place is fully occupied, I can still order my fave Chirashi and grab a seat there. Conclusion: I will return again and again and again 💯👍❤️⭐️🙏🤗 By the way, this place gives customers a free cheesecake for a Google review. I DID NOT bother about this freebie because I DON’T DO reviews for freebies or discounts. It’s a matter of principle.

Dining Experience @ Donburi King. . The Seiyo Shoro Chawanmushi / Truffle Steamed Egg Custard (SGD $7.50) has a fragrant aroma from truffle oil, while the wobbly dense soft steamed egg custard has eggy savoury sweet flavour. Garnished with soft pliant kamaboko / fish cake surimi, crunchy firm edamame / immature soy beans, and tender crunchy deshelled shrimp / prawns, all of which combine for sweet savoury vegetal earthy herbal flavour. . The Miso Shiru / Miso Soup (SGD $Part Of Set Meal) is filled with chunks of soft wobbly silken tofu bean curd, wispy crunchy kombu / kelp seaweed, and crisp green onions. Has lovely deep earthy savoury salty vegetal herbal flavour, yum. . Loved the Kaisen Don / Kaisen Donburi / Assorted Seafood Rice Bowl (SGD $35.80). Over the base of sticky fluffy seasoned white rice is topped generous thick-cut slices of fresh sashimi, including tender salmon fish loin with sweet savoury meaty flavour, tender tuna fish loin with meaty savoury sweet flavour, pliant swordfish belly with meaty savoury sweet flavour, soft tender scallops with sweet briny salty flavour, and crunchy shell-on shrimp with bright sweet savoury flavour. . Sitting on top is juicy globules of ikura / salmon fish roe caviar with bright briny salty sweet notes. Slices of juicy cucumber with vegetal sweet flavour, and tender tamago / rolled egg omelette with mild eggy sweet flavour, completes this dish. Feels so luxurious, deliciously yummy and filling.
