A place where it feels like you’re having home cooked food~ Good food, affordable prices, huge portions! They have a small menu but everything is yummy, it’s like a whole menu of signature items! I can see why it’s a popular family restaurant! Steamed minced pork w salted fish - Tasty! Not a fan of salted fish and the smell seemed a little strong but taste wise wasn’t too intense yet still very flavorful! Watercress soup - A huge bowl at just $20?! Insane. So much veges inside. It’s really comforting! Fried kangkong - A yummy plate of vege. Wished there was a bigger size! Steamed fish head - Was totally shocked at the size for $30. So big! It’s a black bean fish head, goes well with rice! Yummy! Steamed chicken - Looks like an ordinary plate of steamed chicken, but it was my favorite dish! The chicken thigh meat was so tender and silky smooth, plus seasoned so nicely! No odd chicken taste too. A must order for me! Sweet & sour pork - A good dish too. The meat wasn’t too fatty! My family called it a premium sweet and sour pork dish. Beancurd w prawns - Another huge plate. A nice dish to eat with rice too. One of their signature items~ Overall, food was good! Recommend to come with at least 5-6pax (or at least 4) so you order the whole menu literally! 😂
View on GoogleI've been following Sik Wai Sin from their days in Geylang, to East Coast, and now back to the Geylang area and it still feels like home every time we eat there. My husband is crazy about the food. For him, it’s pure comfort. It reminds him of home-cooked meals. I’m the small eater here, so every visit turns into a little negotiation. I always try to convince him to stick to just three dishes, but he insists on ordering four… just for the two of us! 😂 That said, we both absolutely love the food here. Our must-orders every time are the steamed fish head and tofu with prawns. He goes straight for the fish meat while I happily take on the bones and the head, teamwork, right? 😂 What I love most is how the taste has never changed over the years. It’s always feels like home cooked.
View on Google5/Sep/2025 Had steamed fish head, watercress soup, bean curd with prawn, fried ginger chicken & 2 steamed rice ($124) for dinner, was extremely good! Service was friendly and prompt. Reasonably-sized air-con dining area. I've been patronizing this eatery for many years.
View on GoogleDid not live up to expectations. Ordered 4 dishes. The beef kailan was best among them. Kailan was just right. Even the stem was nice and soft. The beef was good but could be better. The fish could have been more flavourful. The tofu was good hot but not so when cooled (a tad sourish) and the prawns were over cooked. The minced pork was so-so. Overall an OK meal but not "blown away" in terms of flavour. Service was generally good. Food came rather promptly. Setting was normal.
View on Google2nd generation owner of this zi char stall is now running this restaurant. The place is air-conditioned, so you can dine in relative comfort. The owner specializes in steamed dishes, though they have other wok-fried dishes. We had the following dishes: - Steamed song fish head with black bean sauce topped with pork lard, which was delicious. So beware of the fine fish bones! - Steamed pork patty with good quality salted fish. Good portion of meat. Tasty - Watercress soup with pork ribs. Soup was tasty. Good for 4. - Tofu with prawns. The waiter suggested large which comes with more prawns, but the amount of tofu was way more than we could finish and we had to arrange for the balance to be packed. Better to order the small portion that will be just nice for 4. Overall food was good and comes to your table rather quickly after placing your order. Parking on a weekend can be a challenge during peak dining hours.
