Bring my family here for dinner today. This coffee shop style restaurant offers Zi Char that are relatively tasty but prices are slightly on the higher side. The price comparable with the Chinese Restaurant (with air conditioning) in the shopping mall. Overall the food can be better. Need to order and pay at the counter first. If you need extra rice or something else need to order and pay at the counter again.

Just had our dinner at Lai Huat and we ordered curry fish head, salted egg chicken and spinach tofu. Food are good and it is accessible via public transport. I am planning my next visit to try their signature sambal fish.

Roadside shophouse unit, spacious and airy. Just a 10min walk from Dakota MRT. Sambal Promfet ($40): Huge, sufficient portion for the 5 of us. Fish was fresh with a nicely crisp exterior, and generously topped with this delicious sambal. Sambal was the highlight, we kept eating it with the rest of the dishes. Crab Beehoon ($48): Decently sized whole crab, with sweet and plump flesh. Beehoon was rich and intense, but became slightly surfeiting towards the end. Tofu w/ Crabmeat ($12): Tofu was good, and the gravy made it better with lump of crabmeat. Sweet Potato Leaf ($10), Spinach w/ Trio Egg ($12): Nice, but not great. Had better in plenty other places. Fried Rice ($6): Average, but portion was amazing for the price. Homemade Prawn Roll ($10): Meaty and bursting with juices. This was nice.

My first time to Lai Huat Signature Geylang having heard their famous sambal fish. To my horror, the fish was dried up, tastless & sambal was not at all fantastic. My elderly mom & aunty complained to the max. White rice was not cooked. Overall bad experience & will not come again or intro to my friends.

Ordered the 8 pax set meal today for the reunion dinner and collected the food on time. However there were total 2 missing and wrong items which the restaurant promptly rectified by sending the right items to our place. We do understand that during festive season, there maybe some mistakes and delays but we are pleased with the prompt after sales service as well as the food quality. The sambal fish is big and delicious, using heaps of shrimp for the sambal. Prawns are big and juicy. The fish maw soup is full of ingredients. Broccoli with scallops are nicely cooked. Overall, we are very satisfied with the customer service, collection/delivery as well as the food quality and standards.
