I was there with my family for a birthday dinner yesterday, and we had a really enjoyable evening! The vibe was great, and the friendly staff made us feel so welcomed — it almost felt like I was teleported straight to HK! The highlight of the night was definitely the Bee Hoon Crab. It came out last, but it definitely did not disappoint! We had a 1.4kg Sri Lankan crab, which was incredibly fresh. You could really taste the natural sweetness of the crab and seafood, and the bee hoon soaked up all that delicious flavour. Overall, I felt the price was on the steeper side, and most of the dishes leaned towards the more flavourful side — perfect if you enjoy dishes with a good punch of flavour! Would definitely love to come back and try some of their other seafood dishes.
View on GoogleExcellent food. Service was attentive, friendly and prompt. All the star dishes (pig stomach soup, Temple Street Crispy Roast Chicken, typhoon shelter style crab and flambé pork (available in Angus beef as well) were terrific. Advance reservations required for their signature dishes.
View on GoogleHad a really enjoyable meal here at Hey Kee. The moment you step in, you’re greeted by a large live seafood tank showcasing fresh premium seafood, which immediately sets the tone for the meal ahead. Together with the neon signs, retro décor and bustling dai pai dong atmosphere, the restaurant brings back the nostalgic charm of old-school Hong Kong and feels like a little slice of Hong Kong right here in Singapore. One of the highlights right now is their crab promotion: 2 live crabs (500g each) for $88, available Monday to Friday for both lunch and dinner. There are 18 flavours to choose from, including Typhoon Shelter Crab, Braised Crab with Vermicelli, Black Pepper Crab, Curry Crab, Stir-Fried Crab with Black Truffle, and Baked Eefu Noodles with Crab in Spicy Butter Cream Sauce. The crabs were fresh, meaty and great for sharing, making the promotion especially worthwhile for seafood lovers. We also tried several of their refreshed dishes. The Temple Street Chicken with Spicy Chips was crispy and flavourful, while the Crab Roe Baked Rice was rich and comforting. The Deep-Fried Pork with Red Fermented Bean Curd had a satisfying savoury taste and a little optional sweet bonus of condensed milk dipping sauce on the side , the Braised Tofu with Garlic and Chilli was simple yet delicious, and the Deep-Fried Eggplant was surprisingly addictive. The Double-Boiled Chicken Soup with Sea Coconut was hearty and comforting, perfect for sharing. To complete the experience, diners can even borrow complimentary retro-themed costumes and take photos around the restaurant. Between the fresh live seafood on display, nostalgic Hong Kong vibes, fun atmosphere and the generous 2-for-$88 crab promotion, it’s a great spot to gather with family and friends for a satisfying Hong Kong-style seafood feast.
View on GoogleFood portions are generous, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The air-conditioning wasn’t very cold, and the food could have been served warmer. The chilli crab was excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal. As this is a Hong Kong-style restaurant, the background music felt a little out of place. Playing more Cantonese classics by artists such as Anita Mui would better match the theme and create a more authentic dining atmosphere.
View on GoogleThis is a five star review for this kind of restaurant! It feels like traveling back to 1980s Hong Kong when entering!! Cantonese flavours meet old style interiors and vintage charm in Singapore’s old Badminton Hall. And if you want some extra fun they have a private dining room with a karaoke! This is a place for sharing dishes, and you can see some of my favourites on the photos! Some of my favourites, Crab Roe Rice with Jeju Bacon L, Flaming Jeju Pork Tenderloin, Typhoon Shelter Stir-Fried Crab, Temple Street Chicken with Spicy Chips and Sizzling Choy Sum in Claypot with Tai O Shrimp Paste.
