This frog porridge satisfied my craving. The gong bao sauce is rich and fragrant, a little spicy (just nice), a little salty and sweet at the same time. Goes perfectly with the silky porridge. The fried frog legs was unique and the natter taste nice. Crispy and fluffy, the ginger was also nice too. The butter prawns were not too fresh, it was mushy. A little too oily too. Overall, it’s a place I have wanted to try and the food did not disappoint me. Do wear something casual or loose because you ware going to sweat while eating there.

Visited Eminent Frog Porridge & Seafood recently and came away with mixed feelings. This has long been one of the household names associated with frog leg porridge in Singapore, so perhaps part of the challenge was that my expectations were shaped by memories of previous visits. The food was decent overall, but I couldn't help feeling that the standard has slipped somewhat compared to what I remembered. The signature frog leg porridge remains the main attraction, and the frog meat itself was tender enough and properly cooked. The gong bao-style sauce still paired well with the plain porridge, delivering that familiar sweet, savoury, and slightly spicy combination that has made the dish popular over the years. However, I found the overall flavour noticeably saltier than before, and the dish lacked some of the balance and finesse I remembered. The biggest disappointment of the meal was the oyster omelette. It simply didn't work for me. The combination of sauce and egg felt awkward, and the dish lacked the texture and flavour contrast that makes a good oyster omelette enjoyable. The environment remains very much a traditional local kopitiam setup, but unfortunately it was one of the weaker aspects of the visit. The dining area felt hot, crowded, and somewhat chaotic. Even as someone who enjoys local hawker and coffee shop dining, I found it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the meal. There was constant movement around the tables, with diners, staff, and servers walking up and down the narrow aisles throughout the evening. Service was fairly basic, though admittedly I wasn't expecting much in that department. Staff interactions were functional rather than memorable, but food arrived quickly and orders were processed efficiently. Overall, still a decent place for frog leg porridge, but this visit didn't quite recapture the standard or experience I remembered from years ago.

Came here on my friend’s strong recommendation! I looked this spot up on Google and took a cab over to check it out, and it totally lived up to the hype. This was my first time trying frog porridge and claypot frog, and wow—so flavorful! The frog meat is tender, soaked in rich savory sauce with fresh greens, served piping hot in a clay pot. I paired it with a fresh young coconut to balance the savory taste, which was such a great combo. The restaurant is a classic local Geylang eatery, authentic Singaporean hawker-style vibes. Every dish we ordered tasted amazing, the portions are satisfying, and the whole experience was fantastic. 100% will be coming back again soon. If you’re in Geylang and looking for iconic local frog porridge & zi char, this place is a must-try! Highly recommend.

*Late Night Eatery With Frogs On Menu* People go to Eminent for two reasons, eat frogs, or eat late, or both. It is a specialist frog restaurant that opens until the early hours and every customers have frogs on their tables. The only choice the diners make is whether with chilli or without. With the braised frogs that we had, they tasted as fresh as they could be as were slaughtered to our order. Despite their freshness, the gravy was too thick and heavy that it masked the meat's delicate nature. The idiosyncratic way of serving it with plain rice porridge made it worse but it seemed to be the de rigueur manner in Singapore. The French and Chinese ways of cooking frog showcase its traits far better and are both delicious. The others dishes that we ordered that nite faired relatively better although were still on the rustic side. This restaurant is located in an older district. It's in an old building and curiously the toilet is the ancient flat type without any toilet seat. You don't see them anymore except in Mainland China and maybe the odd one in remote countryside Japan.

Food preparation is very fast and the white pepper flavor frog is unique and tastes good, but the restaurant is not clean enough as I can ee some bugs climbing on the wall. Pre-payment before eating and 3% service fee + 9% GST is applied here. Drinks menu and receipt is not clear as well.
