If you are looking for a taste of the past, Cho Kee Noodle at Old Airport Road is a must-visit. I ordered their signature Wanton Noodles ($4.50, No. 1 on the menu) and requested the classic combination of both chili and ketchup. It did not disappoint! Noodle Texture: The noodles were perfectly springy and had a great bite to them, holding the sauce well. Flavour Profile: The seasoning hit all the right traditional notes, that distinct, comforting flavour that's hard to find these days. The Char Siew: The char siew was exactly how I remember it from years ago. While it was a bit on the leaner/drier side, that is precisely the old-school style that defines this dish. Overall Vibe: Every mouthful was packed with a wonderful nostalgic taste. It's a simple, honest bowl of noodles that takes you back in time. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates the traditional Singaporean wanton noodle style!

Worthy of it's Heritage Reputation and did not leave disappointed! Been hearing my friends rave about Cho Kee for the longest time and how it preserves the taste of old-time Singapore. Came to try and was not disappointed at all! I'm not a self-confessed wtm fan nor eater but I've eaten my fair Singaporean share of wtm over the years and this is probably one of the more unique bowls of wtm I've tasted. Unapoligetically unpretentious, noodles are springy with a good bite, reminicisent of hakata style ramen noodles. Thin, firm but with a nice bite and springiness to it. The charsiew was a delight and the wanton had a nice skin and flavourful filling inside. My friend that ate together with me commented that over the years he has only eaten the competitor store but said today that this store is actually nicer. The lard oil was the standout for him. Fried wanton was crispy and delicious as well. Overall it was worth the trip today to give Cho Kee a try!

The handmade noodle was the attraction. The design of the menu makes it not easy to select the combo of choice I want. The way the noodle was served doesn't helped in making the food appealing. All ingredients were squeezed and place on the plate. Wantons and dumplings were pre-cooked and put into the bowl upon ordering where soup was being added. This resulted in dry and hard wanton and dumpling skin which was not desirable. Dumpling meat were too hard to taste, don't seem to have prawns nor chestnut present except think lump of meat. Saving grace was the perfectly prepared noodle and balanced sauce which soaked well into the noodle. The fried wantons were crispy though - best of all.

Tried both the regular and spinach wanton noodles, both were excellent! The noodles were springy, dumplings fresh and flavourful. The char siew is tender and has a nice bite. Delicious, comforting and definitely worth coming back for. 😊
