La Mensa
Italian for ‘The Canteen’, La Mensa is inspired by how pasta is for everyone. That with just a few simple ingredients, a plate of pasta turns into a moment that can be enjoyed alone or shared. So it’s no surprise that our focus on pasta, simple and done right.

One of the best calamari I had recently. Lightly battered and fried to perfection. You can taste the freshness in this dish. Not from frozen pre-made pack! Pasta wise, beef ragu was really delicious! Sauce has deep layers of flavours. Carbonara on the other hand was a tad too greasy and too creamy. The combination was missing some umami flavour. Overall a good spot to have quick hand made pasta. Must try their calamari!
View on Google📍la mensa @jfoodiediary Idk why google review is 3.9 stars?!! Paid $13 for this beef bolognese that was generously portioned with mince beef (at the bottom of the bowl) . It had a slightly sweet beefy flavour and noodles were done al-dente :) surprisingly enjoyed it & finish it all 😳😳 Or was it because I had super low expectations?🤣😝 I will come back - easy fuss free lunch spot. 10% off for Guoco tenants 7/10
View on GoogleI got introduced to this casual pasta place and it was surprisingly good for the price paid. Menu is simple with a good variety, which made it quicker to decide. The.Aglio E Olio came with large pieces of juicy deshelled prawns and it was my personal favourite. The spaghetti was done al dente and flavourfully garlicky with a good amount of heat. My only qualm was that it's a tad oily. The Alfredo was served with hand-torn chicken and Italian parsley. The fettuccine was done al dente with a firm bite without being too soft or hard, and richly coated in the pecorino sauce. It was rich and flavourful without being overcloying. The Pesto Di Noce has conchiglie pasta tossed in house-made basil pesto sauce and garnished with walnuts and grated pecorino cheese. Initally I thought it looked dry but it was moist enough and the seashell pasta was done al dente as well. It was aromatic, herbaceously savoury and slightly creamy. We topped up with chicken for extra protein. For side, we had the Broccolini that was delightfully crunchy with a mild, sweet flavour. Seating is rather limited and tables are quite close to each other. But it's overall worth the value (and the carbs and calories). Would be back to try the other pasta dishes
View on GoogleIt’s my second time trying the pasta from La Mensa! Agree with another review which mentioned that it would be nicer if garlic was added. Pasta is al dente and seasoned well, prawns are nicely seared and juicy. There is no additional fee for takeaways! Both times I was served by a friendly lady who is chirpy and has a smile for all customers. Deserving of 5 stars for service :)
View on GoogleThe carbonara was authentic, but the sauce was way too little. There wasn’t enough to properly coat the pasta, so it ended up feeling quite dry instead of rich and creamy. The guanciale was flavourful, though I would’ve preferred it a touch crispier for more contrast. There was also a slight smoky, almost burnt note in the sauce that left a faint bitterness towards the end. Overall, I think it’s a bit overpriced for the quality I’m getting. I reckon I will not be returning to give other pastas a try.
