Visited on weekend and so surprised to see so many Pompompurin fans! Many brought the plushies along too for the Pompompurin x Japan Rail Cafe collab. Service is good and prompt, iced water was served to us on arrival, staff is friendly too. Order was made via QR code and we received our meal orders quite quickly and even had desserts served together. Easy to do a photo op of all things Pompompurin, very cutsey day of fun! Especially for Pompompurin fans! Hurry and visit today.
View on GoogleLoved the food and the ambience. Very chill place to eat and dish with your friends. Will come back again for the main cafe menu instead of the pom pom purin theme
View on GoogleThe good old days of Sanrio cafes, and Kumoya cakes were really gone. Not sure if due to inflation or economic cycles, the permanent Sanrio cafes at Orchard Central and Changi Airport gave way to short-term pop-up cafes. I guess Pompompurin pop-up cafe is at Japan Rail Cafe till 14 June 2026 because this Sanrio character was voted first in 2025. Japan Rail Cafe and its staff did a good job but minimalist pop-up just lacked impact and appeal, unlike how the Pompompurin/ Rilakuma at Orchard Central, and Kumoya Cafe did it in pre-Covid times.
View on GoogleFood tasted very ordinary for a $20 set each person (excl tax and GST). Had to remind them to serve the drinks (additional of $4++) which we ordered with our sets. Served every table drinking water except us, asked the staff (bespectacled lady with claw clip) if they do serve water, she just replied yes and turned away. Bad attitude.
View on GoogleI ordered the Hokkaido bento set. The fried chicken was nicely done, as it was not too oily or salty, and the meat was tender and moist. The salmon was not as tender as I would have liked, but it was still satisfactory. When the meal was first served, I thought the portion looked rather miserly, but then again, I’m not a big eater. Truth be told, I’m quite a picky eater, so the portion was actually alright for me. I also realised that if I added a dessert, it would be half the price compared to ordering it à la carte, so of course I added one — a warabi mochi. However, after eating two pieces, I was too full to finish the rest. I asked for a container to take it home, and the staff kindly helped to pack it without charging me for the disposable container. Thank goodness. If you asked me whether I would come all the way from one end of my train line just to eat this bento meal, the answer would be a straightforward no. There’s a shopping centre near my MRT station that already has several good Japanese options, so I don’t think it’s worth spending the time and energy to travel all the way here just for a meal. If I happen to be in the area, I might pop by, but I wouldn’t come all the way just for it. It’s definitely not worth it.
