Went to City Hotpot for dinner and, as always, it didn't disappoint. The ingredients were fresh, beautifully presented, and the quality was consistently good across the board. Best of all, everyone gets their own individual pot. No fighting over what goes into the soup, no one overcooking your food, and definitely no communal saliva marinating in the broth. Prices are surprisingly reasonable, portions are generous enough to leave most people satisfied (unless you're a bottomless pit), and there's a huge selection of soup bases to suit just about every palate. The condiments station is equally impressive, with enough options to customise every bite. As for the cooking, there's really not much to review — it's a cook-it-yourself hotpot. If your beef turns into rubber or your vegetables disintegrate into mush, that's entirely on you.
View on GoogleIndividual hotpot at tg pagar for such comforting hotpot with multiple soup base to choose from! Individual sets are affordable with many varieties! Staffs and service were really damm good as well! Will definitely revisit! :) Special call out to Weiwei who is really attentive to the customers and checking on us to ensure all is good! View on GoogleMy group of five visited the restaurant on a weekday for lunch. We all ordered different sets, which led to a mix-up that was quickly sorted out. I got the premium pork set with a dual bowl of Teochew fish soup and Mala (less spicy). I'm not sure if they gave me the wrong order, as the Mala was spicier than expected, even for a zhong la person like me. A major concern was food safety. They do not offer tongs or separate chopsticks for raw and cooked food, so you have to be extra careful with the utensils. Also, while the free condiment station were a nice touch, I wish the free cut fruit was covered. It was also not chilled or even placed on ice to maintain freshness. Food taste wise, all the ingredients are fresh, but the Teochew fish soup which i paid a premium for was extremely fishy. As someone who eats a lot of Teochew fish soup, I believe I can tell. We also had a bill shock over a lapsed UOB promotion, despite confirming validity before ordering. We were only told at payment that the promotion was over. Overall, the place offers great value despite the lapsed promotion episode and really fast service, but the food was just okay. Since I am not into hotpot (why pay to cook myself, haha) and I am fussy about food safety, I probably won't be back.
View on GoogleThe ingredients tasted fresh, the flavors were rich without being overwhelming, and every dish was beautifully presented. special thanks to our waiter Wei Wei for the outstanding service. Attentive, friendly, and always smiling, they made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
View on GoogleClean and quiet during the weekend. We ordered a set menu plus some extra à la carte dishes. The prawn soup is on the salty side, but the Teochew fish soup and Sichuan spicy soup are quite authentic. For the meats, the pork collar is the best among all. The minced pork paste and wanton taste like they use the same meat mixture, with too much lean meat and not enough fat, so the texture is quite hard. Surprisingly, the peanuts and ikan bilis at the sauce section are very crispy and tasty.
