Very good choice of food in here - it was hard to choose! Our noodle soup was amazing (large portion too), we shared the noodles. We also shared a red bean bun and a tea tarik/watermelon juice. As a couple of backpackers, we are watching our spending and we were happy with how cheap the food was but also the quality was great!
View on GoogleFabulous hawker center!! Authentic - tons of locals dining - but still so clean and affordable! I noticed prices were a dollar cheaper here at many stalls as compared to the basic markets on tourist blogs (some chicken rice for only $3-5 instead of 6!) I had a great kaya toast and coffee here. Bonus: the restrooms and toilets were super nice and clean!
View on GoogleThis is probably one of the cleanest Hawker Centres we visited in Singapore. However, the one thing people don't tell you is that not all of the stalls are open. There are A LOT that either open certain days or just don't open at all. Having said that, the food is fresh and tasty and good serving sizes. I had a Beef Hor Fun, and my wife had a Nasi Goreng (with a chili twist) but nice. Overall, the food is good. I recommend Market Street Hawker Centre for lunch, not dinner.
View on GoogleFavourite hawker center in Raffles place, 2 storeys of stalls selling many popular and tasty local treats at economical prices. Tried out this relatively new steam fish stall located on the 3rd floor. Set comes with steam fish (sea bass or golden promfret prepared in soya sauce garlic, cai poh or fermented bean paste), a vegetable (choice of kailan, lettuce and bean sprouts), a bowl of rice and a bowl of seaweed soup. Had set no 2, top up $1 to have fish tail instead of fish head. Portion is generous, fish has no smell and vegs has nice crisp. A hearty and healthy meal.
View on Googlethis isn't a dig and if this place was in some places in SG it might possibly warrant a 3.0*. However with lps, maxwell, hong lim, smith street, people park, amoy food centers all within walking distance, and the myriad of food options that is not food centers during lunchtime (this place doesn't cater for after 6pm and weekend dining due to almost every stall closed), ; even when this place is the nearest when I am around the vicinity there simply no reason to visit even during lunch. Poor food options, just ok food flavour for almost all of the stalls i tried nothing stands out, poor service for alot of stalls. But then again the ratings are relative among the 7 food centers within walking distance(yes 7 one of the most in sg). Competition pulled its ratings down immensely. The only saving grace is the drinks stall lvl2 at the corner just in front when you exit the escalator(not lifts). Their hot drinks are ok flavourful and on point for this food center and price point.
