The tau pok was toasted to an ideal crispness on the outside and generously stuffed with fresh cucumber and vegetables. Be sure to dip it in their signature sauce, as it significantly elevates the overall flavor profile. As for the popiah, it easily ranks among the best I’ve had. The sauce strikes a perfect balance, sweet but not overpowering, while the crushed peanuts add a highly satisfying crunch to every bite. Highly recommended, and well deserved Michelin recognition!
View on GoogleVisited on 23 May 2026. Seen the $2 sign and wanted to order 1 popiah but was asked to pay $4. Upon clarification, the male stall owner irritably retorted “Minimum 2 pieces”. Bought it anyway thinking they were nice. I was so wrong. It tasted normal and the popiah was leaking sweet sauce. The vegetables were a little salty. And the skin, a little tough. Not recommended. I wondered why there was a queue for such popiahs which were at best mediocre. Please try other stalls and avoid this which “forces” a minimum quantity with an attitude despite showing just a $2 sign, which was distasteful.
View on GoogleStandard has Fallen tremendously! Popiah: They don’t even use the traditional black sauce. Taste, I only taste peanut and skin. Rojak: Don’t see any traditional black sauce, but it’s covered with some kind of sweet concoction. A much better Rojak option is at Tiong Bahru market. Very disappointed this place used to be my favourite, but now I may never come back
View on GoogleI tried the popiah here for the first time and really enjoyed it. The flavours were surprisingly complex and well balanced, with a mix of sweet, savoury, and slightly tangy notes coming together beautifully. The filling was fresh and full of texture, wrapped in a thin, soft crepe that made it light yet satisfying. I’d happily return to just for this dish.
View on GoogleI visited this stall at Maxwell and ordered two items: Popiah and Cockles. First, the Popiah: It was perfectly normal. Honestly, I had braced myself for disappointment, but it didn't fail me. That said, it was just a very standard, average popiah—decent and satisfying enough, but nothing exceptional to write home about. However, the Cockles were a massive letdown and extremely concerning. We paid $10 for the plate, and they were clearly not fresh. Many of the cockles had an awful, shitty, muddy smell that immediately turned us off. Furthermore, you could see on the shells that they had not been properly washed or cleaned before being cooked and served. Due to the quality and the bad smell, we had to throw away almost half the portion. Serving seafood this unclean is unacceptable. I am genuinely worried about having a stomach ache after eating the few we tried. I hope the stall takes action to ensure their ingredients are fresh and properly prepared, especially for items like cockles.
