Probably the best scones I've had. Soft, very fluffy, no clumping in my mouth like Popeye's biscuits, and no alkaline-like aftertaste. Can keep eating forever. The chocolate brioche is another personal favourite. Buttery fragrant and soft, topped with crunchy chocolate bits similar to ones in cookies and cream. The croissant toasts also a good reimagining of traditional Kaya toast. Buttery and crispy.
View on GoogleLove that this stall offers both traditional kopi and specialty coffee, catering to different tastes and preferences, perfect for those buying drinks in a group! Ordered an iced latte and kopi siew dai, and both were fragrant with a satisfying caffeine kick. Prices are also fairly reasonable for a hawker stall selling specialty coffee.
View on GoogleFirst order Americano and Teh-C. Both were really good! Then came back again for the Dirty Matcha Latte. It didn't only wow us with the aesthetic, the way the green and brown mixed together was very pleasing, wonder if it was intended. The taste was amazing as well. Singlehandedly revived my faith in dirty matchas, which had previously been at rock bottom. Gonna try more and see if any spots can rival the one here. Moreover, got member discount for second visit
View on GoogleTLDR: Mad Roaster didn’t disappoint with the coffee quality! Visited after seeing them on CNA New Stirings about new gen hawker. I love their concept of being a sustainable social enterprise without relying on sympathy of consumers and they focus on delivering good quality food and drinks. I recommend checking them out on Sat mornings when Amoy St is not packed and you can leisurely order across multiple stores.
View on GoogleTheir iced latte ($4.50) is really good, full bodied and with a strong roasted flavour. The iced matcha latte ($5.10) was also pretty good, with a strong matcha taste and a nice ratio of matcha to milk. A great place to grab a drink at Amoy street food centre, though the food centre does get crowded especially during lunch (11:30am-1pm) so seating may be limited!
