While Maxwell Food Centre can occasionally feel a bit hit-or-miss under the weight of its immense internet hype, discovering 裕廊东18年传统味鱼圆面 (Jurong East 18 Years Traditional Taste Fishball Noodle) for breakfast was a genuinely wonderful surprise. Having sampled a few other heavily praised stalls in the complex only to walk away largely unimpressed, this humble gem provided a refreshing turnaround to our culinary exploration. We ordered their signature Bak Chor Mee to kickstart our morning. While I wouldn’t go as far as to label it the absolute pinnacle of minced meat noodles I have ever encountered in my travels, it was undeniably, deeply satisfying. The savory components came together beautifully, delivering a highly appetizing flavor profile that left us craving just a few more bites. It is a robust, well-executed plate that stands head and shoulders above its neighboring competition. Beyond the plate, what truly elevated this experience from an ordinary breakfast to a memorable highlight was the hospitality. The proprietor himself is an absolute delight. Even with a steady, burgeoning queue of hungry customers waiting in line, he remained entirely composed and remarkably efficient, processing orders and preparing the noodles with practiced grace. Throughout our entire journey across Singapore, warm and personable customer service at hawker stalls has felt like a rare commodity; this gentleman is one of a mere handful of hawkers who greeted us with a genuine, welcoming smile. That heartfelt hospitality alone is worth celebrating. I will absolutely be returning to this stall on my next trip to the city to enjoy another bowl.

21 Jun 26- back here again. i think this is one of the best fishball mee tai mak (mouse tail noodles) around CBD. the bowl has a secret seasoning that is very unique. He serves fast. 20 Jul 25- stall had no queue so why not. Turned out to be nothing short of delicious. Well seasoned, perfectly cooked noodles (mee tai mak) and springy fishballs. Uncle even has chili padi which is always necessary.

The other stall has long Q... so I am not expecting much when going for this stall. I am very wrong! It's one of the best fishball noodles mee pok I ever tried.. Fishballs & fish cakes are fresh , bouncy & tender. Taste is spot on with the right amount of vinegar. Soup is nice. Mee mok is also perfect... Sometimes don't judge by the length of the Queue..

$6 for a bowl of minced meat + fishballs. Traditional taste. Less of the funky bcm taste. Ok bowl. 3.7.

16 Feb 2026: I am a Level 8 contributor (>450 reviews) on Google and regularly review eateries and experiences both in Asia and Melbourne. I came here in the morning of the eve of Chinese New Year to patronise a stall, but it was closed. I decided to check this place out. The eatery started charging an extra $2 for Chinese New Year. Because I was using CDC vouchers, it didn't matter. I ordered a bowl of mixed meat and fish ball noodle soup. The balls definitely tasted nice. The broth is a traditional style kind of soup which brought back childhood memories. Overall, it tasted good, but it's worth checking it out if you are in the vicinity.
