Overall, the food was decent, though not particularly memorable. The saba fish was fresh and well-cooked, and our set meals were served promptly. It was odd that the staff hurried to clear our plates before we had finished, despite many empty tables in the restaurant. Aside from that, the overall dining experience was pleasant. My favourite Tomi Sushi outlet remains the one in Katong, for its quality of food and service.

Paid $154 for a family of 4 with 2 young kids. Super expensive for average Japanese food. Service was ok but I wouldn’t say it was warm. Jap dude with glasses needs to provide better customer service. For the price, I can definitely get better jap food, atmosphere and service elsewhere. Won’t be back. Posting the picture although we’ve already finished just to prove that I was indeed there.

Tomi positions itself as your everyday comfort Japanese food that also serves decent sushi. Tomi doesn't excel in one thing, but is memorable because you couldn't choose what you wanted to eat. There are so many things to choose from, whether sushi, sashimi, soba, udon, tempura, etc. And when you want a cold beer with a bite or two of various Japanese comfort food, Tomi is your place to go. Now, the interior could use a little bit more help. Faux wood all over with barely any cushion on the booth benches. But the lacquered wood just throws off the mood in subtle ways. And then the service. I couldn't understand what our server was offering nor proposing. But also, she was very aggressive. Don't think it is a trend with everyone, but again, threw us off from the comfort food and beer mood. The sushi wasn't bad, but unfortunately, the fish wasn't the freshest. They were middle of the line sushi. And again, you can't expect too much in this type of a set up. Again, they tried for sure. Tomi Sushi is a solid place. Reasonably priced. Above average comfort food. Wide variety. But most importantly, you can have a great time with your friends & family.

I recently tried this restaurant for my first time, and I must say, it was quite an interesting experience. The moment I walked in, I felt a nostalgic charm reminiscent of traditional old-school sushi establishments. One of the first things that caught my attention was the complimentary refillable green tea they served. As soon as I sat down, the staff politely asked if I preferred hot or iced green tea, a thoughtful touch. Their menu boasted an extensive selection of sushi and other dishes, ranging from reasonably priced to slightly overpriced options. I decided to try a variety, including salmon sashimi, cha soba, edamame, tori nabe, and chawamushi. The salmon sashimi arrived with just five small but thick slices. While the freshness was commendable, it lacked the desired fatty texture that makes salmon sashimi truly delightful. Nevertheless, the accompanying fresh wasabi was a pleasant addition. Moving on to the cha soba, I found it quite enjoyable. The portion of noodles was generous, and the tempura was perfectly fried, maintaining its flavors without being overly greasy. The tori nabe, a chicken hot pot, was delicious, and I particularly enjoyed the flavorsome soup. However, it might be worth noting that some people may find it a tad salty for their taste. On the other hand, the chawamushi and edamame were rather average and didn't leave a lasting impression. The service was polite, although there was a slight push to clear the table promptly by 9 pm. Overall, this restaurant offers a pleasant opportunity to savor authentic Japanese cuisine without straining your wallet too much. It's a worthwhile experience for those seeking an authentic taste of Japan in the this area.
