Had a wonderful birthday celebration at The Malayan Council Esplanade! The experience was made even more memorable by the warmth and kindness of the team, especially Jennefer. A special thank you to Jennefer for going the extra mile and making my celebration feel so special. The signature Durian Pengat Cake was absolutely delightful and made the occasion even more memorable! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, thoughtful service and for helping to create such a lovely birthday memory. I truly appreciate the kindness and effort. Highly recommended for anyone looking for good food and a warm, memorable dining experience! 😊🎂

Posh halal restaurant offering well-executed fusion dishes in a prime waterfront location. Prices are on the higher end, but that’s understandable given the stunning view of MBS and the Marina, as well as the overall dining experience. We started with the salmon tartare tacos and deep-fried eggplant. The taco shells were slightly “lao hong”, but the filling itself was delicious. The eggplant was fried beautifully—crisp without being oily—and paired very well with the salsa. For mains, we had the lamb, beef Wellington, and the lemak chilli padi pasta with duck. All three dishes were enjoyable, and you can tell a lot of attention went into each one. The beef Wellington was slightly overcooked by one temperature, but it’s forgivable—tenderloin is notoriously hard to get perfect, and it was still tender and tasty. What really stood out, however, was the service. I had indicated that it was our mum’s birthday but completely forgot about it as we’re not the type for birthday songs or fuss. Just as we were about to pay and leave, the staff reminded us and invited us to sit back down. We were then surprised with a complimentary signature ondeh-ondeh cake served with ice cream. The staff were friendly, attentive, and service was relatively fast throughout the meal. They even gave us additional vouchers for our next visit and thoughtfully packed an extra slice of cake for my mum to take home. Overall, a memorable dining experience with excellent service. Strong 8/10 from me.

It was a Saturday night and only about 25–30% of the restaurant was occupied, yet the place still felt understaffed. No one checked if we were ready to order, and we had to signal a second staff member just to place our order. A water container was placed on the table, but no one bothered to pour it. At the very least, drinks could have been poured while we waited for our food — I thought that was a basic courtesy for customers. Two menu items were unavailable, including one I was really looking forward to. If items are not available, customers should be informed upfront — not after we have already decided what to order. The food was average and nothing particularly memorable. Considering the level of service, I honestly don’t understand the hype behind the current 4.7 rating (as of 25 April 2026). The only positive point is the location. Will I come again? No. Will I recommend this place to others? Also no. My honest suggestion to the owner, Hafiz: if staffing is a challenge, it may be best to close the restaurant’s operations rather than continue in its current state.

Excellent food and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Staff was very intuitive towards customer’s needs and serve us excellently. As we’re here for birthday celebration, we received a complimentary birthday cake. To add on, it’s easily accessible by train and buses with background view of Singapore skyscrapers.
