A lovely revisit after so many years, and that Butter Crab is still worth coming back for! 😋 After many years, finally revisited Palm Beach Seafood for a family meal. We went for their set menu for 6, and overall it was an enjoyable dinner. The seafood soup was one of my favourites - rich, flavourful and full of umami. The combination appetiser was excellent too, with fried squid, bamboo clam and crispy Golden Beancurd Puffs - a great start to the meal. The tofu was fairly standard, while the Tangy Honey Barramundi was unfortunately a little too dry and bland for my liking. We also had the fried rice topped generously with crispy whitebait, which was fragrant and tasty, with the crispy little fish adding a nice texture and savoury flavour. The highlight had to be their signature Butter Crab 🦀 - rich, creamy and indulgent, but definitely worth the calories! We came without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to get a table within about 20 minutes. Great and attentive service throughout. Sitting outdoors overlooking Marina Bay Sands made it even better - certainly a prime spot to enjoy seafood with a beautiful waterfront view. A lovely revisit after so many years, and that Butter Crab is still worth coming back for! 😋
View on GoogleHad another great dinner at Palm Tree Seafood and once again, the food did not disappoint. The award-winning king prawn soup was especially impressive. We also enjoyed the chili crab, abalone, deep-fried crab cakes, mee goreng, barramundi and crispy duck, all well-executed and delicious. Ended the meal with the yam dessert. A convenient location to tour guests to visit Merlion after meal.
View on GoogleWe had the black sauce prawns, honey tangy barramundi, rice, and a side of asparagus and mushrooms. It was obvious the seafood was fresh, but not worth the price. The prawns were very difficult to peel open and the sauce tasted like it was just soy sauce. The fish was good, but not “award winning “ as was described. The asparagus was very good. We were seated right away and our order was taken very promptly, but we had to keep reminding them about our drinks and utensils and napkins.
View on GoogleThe restaurant has one of the most amazing views in Singapore. You can see Marina Bay Sands while you enjoy your meal and the Merlion is just beside the restaurant. The food here was excellent too. The chilli crab, the beef skewers, etc were all on point. Service wise, I found them to be ok - neither great nor poor.
View on GoogleIf you’re in Singapore and want the classic chili crab experience with a postcard view of Marina Bay, this place will absolutely deliver. The chili crab itself was good. Rich sauce, fresh crab, plenty messy in the way chili crab should be. That said, the price made us blink a bit. It’s one of those meals where halfway through you look at the bill and think, “Well… I guess we’re paying for the view tonight.” Beyond the crab, we actually found better value in the rest of the menu. The pork ribs were excellent and the fried rice was solid comfort food after wrestling with the crab. The bao buns were perfect for soaking up that chili sauce too. Owners and managers were warm and welcoming, though the rest of the service felt more assembly line than hospitality. Not rude, just very efficient and a bit impersonal. Overall I’d call this a generous 4 out of 5. It leans touristy and very expensive, but that doesn’t automatically make it bad. If you want the chili crab “experience” with Marina Bay glowing in the background, it checks the box nicely. Time your reservation to the Marina Bay Sands light show and you’ll at least feel like the scenery helped justify the bill. Would I rush back? Probably not. We tried chili crab a couple times in Singapore and this was the best version we had, but it’s still a $150–$200 per person novelty dinner. Fun to do once, great views, mediocre service, and a reminder that sometimes the sauce is cheaper than the scenery.
