This Honten has a beautiful Japandi tea house feel. A calm & relaxing place to enjoy dinner. Had the unagi soba, rosti mentaiko & karaage, followed by the kinako warabimochi & matcha gelato waffles for dessert. Everything was well prepared & presented. The desserts were delicious without being overly sweet. The drinks were equally enjoyable. The yomogi-cha had a pleasant herbal aroma, the chrysanthemum yuzu cold brew was refreshing & the genmaicha goma latte had a unique combination of roasted rice tea & nutty sesame flavours. A wonderful place for quality Japanese tea, comforting food & a peaceful café experience.
View on GoogleVisited on a Monday evening, and the crowd levels were very manageable with plenty of seating available. The space is incredibly beautiful, offering various seating options like cozy tatami areas, booths, and high chairs. There’s also a well-curated merchandise area. The staff on the ground are well-equipped and attentive, which made for a smooth experience. Seasonal Specials till 19 April 2026 🍵🌸Sakura Cloud Matcha ($9.0): A beautifully balanced floral beverage. The aroma reminds me of rose, and the salted cream foam provides a savory thickness that cuts through the sweetness. The matcha itself is clean and fresh. I tried this with both oat and fresh milk: oat is nuttier and creamier, while fresh milk is classic and light. Pro-tip: Ask for less sugar to let the matcha notes truly shine. 🌸 Sakura Double Cheesecake ($10.9): This hits that "not too sweet" sweet spot. The duality of the light, airy cheese mousse is lovely: the white layer is milky, while the pink layer has a delicate Sakura sweetness. The matcha soil base adds a grounded tea aroma that ties the Spring theme together. Hot Mains 🍲 Salmon Ochazuke: A comforting dish with a rich, flavorful dashi stock that wasn't too heavy. The egg in the middle was perfectly jammy, just the way I like it. My only critique is that I would have preferred a larger piece of salmon considering the price point, and a bit more dashi stock on the side would have been perfect. 🧈 Agedashi Tofu: The cuts are quite big and chunky, fried in a light batter. Personally, I would have preferred it a bit more golden and flavorful. Switching to a silken tofu might elevate the texture of this dish even further. 🫓 Rosti Mentaiko: A total surprise! I didn't expect the authentic rosti texture since it often looks more like okonomiyaki, but you can still feel the individual potato shreds here. The addition of Bonito flakes and mentaiko sauce transforms it into a crispy pancake-style treat that is very addictive. ✨️Overall Verdict: A beautiful spot for both a full meal and seasonal treats. The vibes are 10/10, making it a great place to settle in and enjoy the Spring atmosphere.
View on GoogleRelaxing Japanese cafe. Haven’t tried their food. Visited here few times n only had different types of matcha. Also bought matcha powder. Staff are friendly n helpful. Love their Japanese style seating by the side. Spacious leg room. Those 2seaters by the full length glass window not my fav becoz I can’t sit with crossed legs for long 😜
View on GoogleGot this place recommended by a local and honestly really enjoyed it. Visited Hvala at Odeon 333 after lunch just for matcha and it did not disappoint 🤍 The matcha was smooth, rich, and tasted really authentic. The cafe itself is spacious, clean, and surprisingly quiet, which made it such a nice spot to slow down and relax for a while. Loved the ambiance so much. Calm, cozy, and minimalistic without feeling too pretentious. Definitely a place I’d come back to for another matcha break in Singapore!
View on GoogleAbsolutely loved Hvala Odeon. Hands down the best dairy-free waffles we’ve had in Singapore. Lightly crisp with a subtle char that adds a lovely roasted flavour, perfectly paired with the vegan sesame ice cream and genmai sprinkled on top. Drinks can also be customised with plant-based milk like oat or soy, which we really appreciated. The music was calming and set such a relaxing vibe, and the staff were genuinely friendly. A must-try if you’re looking for a great Japanese/ vegan dessert. 🌱🍵
