Came to try due to its reputation. Is it a good burger? Sure. Is it worth 19++, nope. A meal with their basic burger is almost 30$ after gst and service. Can't reconcile the price to the food. Probably paying a killer rent. I'm the only customer in the restaurant. The patty is smashed and pressed onto the grill for good chared bits. And you can taste nice beefy notes that's probably from brisket. The bun is soft and everything is pretty tasty and moist. However, doesnt seem worth while imo, i dont see/understand their USP. If I really wanted a smash patty with soft buns, there's another chain at half the price.

Came on a Monday around 2pm, was seated immediately. Ordering was fuss-free via QR code at the table. They have lunch sets available too. Also pretty cool robots that deliver your food. Ordered a Honbo set ($27.50 including GST) which consisted of a Honbo burger, fries and Apple Pie Iced Tea. Honbo burger (7/10) - Bun was incredibly soft, Patties were crispy but juicy, the sauce and onion balanced the burger well. Generally a good burger but I've had better, therefore the rating. Fries (10/10) - crispy all throughout the meal, this is definitely the best thing in the meal Apple Pie Iced Tea (6/10) - decent iced tea but with pretty strong cinnamon in it. If you're not a fan of cinnamon, you wont enjoy this. Generally decent but for the price point, I probably won't come back again.

Honbo at CHIJMES offers a straightforward, no-frills burger experience in a clean and modern American cafe bar vibes setting. The menu is concise, focusing mainly on their signature smashed-patty burgers. Fries were average. The Honbo Burger is simple in composition — beef patties, cheese, onions and their house sauce — but the flavours come through cleanly. The patties are thin, lightly caramelised and not overly greasy, while the potato roll stays soft without falling apart. The Cheeseburger follows a similar profile, slightly richer due to the extra cheese, and leans more towards a classic American-style bite. Both burgers are consistent, though they are on the smaller side compared to typical gourmet burger portions. The Apple Pie Lemon Tea stood out as the most memorable item. It has a mild sweetness with a hint of spice, and the citrus cuts through nicely without being too sharp — overall a well-balanced drink that pairs easily with the meal. Service is efficient and food arrives quickly, even when the outlet is moderately busy. Prices trend higher than average for the portion size, but the experience is predictable and generally well-executed. A neutral, steady option at CHIJMES if you’re looking for a clean, straightforward burger meal without anything overly complicated.

Burger was of the right size for a manageable, substantial bite. It's flavourful but i wished for the meat to be thicker, as the current size is a little thin. The food is therefore not cheap in this context. Nonetheless, the restaurant setting has a fantastic, relaxing vibe, for a nice, chill meal out with loved ones or friends.

True to its name, Honbo has invested all its points into a single stat build - perfecting their eponymous cheese burger. Despite a simple composition of only 5 main ingredients (patty, cheese, onions, pickles and bun), each component is intentional, well executed and synergised perfectly to deliver one of the most delicious bites in its category. The smashed patty was juicy, flavourful and crispy around the edges, layered with gooey American cheese. Raw onions and pickles placed at the bottom of the burger provided a refreshing crunch and a mild acidity that helped relieve some of the richness. All that was sandwiched between two toasty buns that was not over-buttered and maintained its integrity amazingly well throughout despite how juicy the burger was. And no exaggeration, I literally slurped up a small pool of meat juices at the bottom of the wrapper. The sides though are pretty mediocre, specifically the fries. And then there is the price. $20 for a standard Honbo burger is definitely on the steeper side, roughly 1.5 times what other burgers would cost. However, there is no doubt that it’s a premium burger and its quality is at least 1.5 times higher than its competition so I would say it’s still a fair value.
