I often come to Chef Lai at Adelphi for their rendang chicken set during lunch and it has become one of my regular favourites. The rendang is rich, creamy and packed with flavour, while the chicken is always tender and well cooked. The portion size is generous for the price, making it a very affordable and satisfying meal in the area. The only downside is that the seating can feel a little cramped during peak lunch hours, but the good food and value keep me coming back.

Went on Sat early dinner time; not much crowd but many favourites were sold out. Tried the fried chicken cutlet and the lemongrass chicken. The lemongrass chicken was too sweet for my liking. The chili sauce that came with the cutlet has a nice garlicky kick. Service had been courteous and prompt though.

$7.50 chicken rice set is good value for a meal in the city hall area. One of the better chicken rice I’ve eaten, not too greasy/oily or overly salty, and the soup is excellent. Would return to try their other dishes. The space is quite small and gets crowded during lunch be prepared to wait if you go during peak hour.

I absolutely loved the 白斩鸡 here! It was perfectly cooked with that delightful jelly layer between the meat and skin. And that soup that comes with it was delicious.

Exactly what I was looking for, homey food, a balanced meal, comes with hot soup, The shop was empty at 5:45pm and it kinda felt like the guy was closing up, but he very courteously served me. Then at 6pm loud bass beats reverberated thru the shop... A public aerobics class had started somewhere outside above ground. Kinda contributed to the feeling of the place 😀
