first time patronizing and consider me a fan! did not expect that one of the sets would come with 2 chicken wings, and for being in the city — i suppose the price is as reasonable as it gets ($8.50)! I like that there was proportionate amount of rice to ingredients. The chix wing batter was crispy and meat moist, rice has lemak, and sambal was nicely sweet and slightly spicy. Looking at their rows of sunny side-ups is delectable, you know they doin it right — runny egg yolks over rice 4eva. Dare i say, this might be one of the best nasi lemaks… well, i’ll be returning to try out the fried prawn set next~
View on GoogleCafé Ponggol Nasi Lemak One of the best nasi lemak experiences in Singapore. The food is consistently fresh, crispy, and flavourful. The fried chicken is juicy with a perfectly crunchy coating, the prawns are nicely battered, and the sunny-side-up eggs are done just right. I really like the wide variety of side dishes—shrimp floss, ikan bilis, peanuts, vegetable curry, and sambal—all well-balanced and not overly oily. Sambal is fragrant and spicy, and they’re happy to give extra chilli on request. Service is fast and efficient even during busy hours, and prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion size. Definitely a comfort food spot that I’ll keep coming back to. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic nasi lemak 👍
View on GoogleWe ordered Sets 2 and 3 with side orders of otah and curry vegetables. We enjoyed the meal very much. Although most items were fried, they were not oily but crispy, the fried egg has a runny yolk which blended well with the rice. Chilli was not too spicy and very good. Rice was fragrant too. To me the curry vegetables was ok only. I'll not buy that the next time. We then ordered coffee. My friend wanted black coffee siew dai. When she tasted it and found it too sweet, she had it changed with no fuss from the staff. Peak lunch hour can be very crowded and noisy. We had to stand beside the table to wait for previous guests to finish their food.
View on GoogleCraving their famous battered chicken wings - carnivore style no carbs. Night snack for the evening. Sambal chilli was deceptively spicy. Was craving more as the size of the wings seems to have shrunk, need more added protein, contemplating on the otah as well
View on GoogleFirst one to order take away once they open shop. Used their kiosk take away and was happy about their detailed modifier to Cut Wings and No Chilli. As I was the first not busy I never think to check and open up 2 hours later, to find chilli and the chicken wing cut but not cut fully, I still have to pull and twist it apart with my fingers…… sad.. was looking forward to gulp down my yummy lunch but now have to pick up spot with no chilli :(
