Had the 1-for-1 festive meal. Their starters were lacklustrous - bread was dry & quite burnt, their french or western dumpling was just salty meat inside - nothing compared to our chinese 饺子. The foie gras salad was alright but the best was their main course. The fish was succulent & the tomato paste was just right - not to sweet, not too sour. Beef cheeks were smooth & soft👍🏼 The dessert was a disaster. Super sour cranberry cake or something like that. Took a mouth & was done. Interior is nice. The side near the bar is well-lit whereas the area near the kitchen is dimmer - that's where we sat. Service was alright. Nothing to scream about. Overall a pleasant experience. Would go back if they have another 1-for-1 deal.
View on GoogleI almost never give a one-star review but this is a place to avoid. This is the restaurant in the lobby of the Sofitel So. Right now they’re running their annual Polish food festival. It’s the third time we’ve tried it, so shame on me for not remembering the previous disappointment. This time we tried their Easter menu. You have a choice of three or four items for $58 or $78++. The $78 version includes a slice of cheesecake… for twenty bucks. We went for the three-course option. Starting off, the bread was so dry, I needed to keep sipping water just to swallow it, and it was dusted with so much flour, it made a mess all over our hands and the table. The starter was a deviled egg. The egg wasn’t bad. It’s just that a single hard boiled egg doesn’t make for much of a starter. The salad was tiny and bland. Conversely, the soup (bialy barszcz) was super salty and didn’t have much in it. Google the name and compare what you see with the picture below. The sausages were okay but small for a main. The pork loin, which was the other main, was overcooked and dry. At least the mains were nicely plated. Since we passed on the cheesecake, we went for two glasses of wine. Their wine is reasonable but don’t expect much. The quality is pretty average. All in, for two mediocre meals and two glasses of table wine, it was $181. Just criminal. And the service was likewise pretty average. No engagement, no explanation of any of the dishes, one water refill over the course of an hour. They were good with clearing the plates. In fact, the whole meal was served in thirty minutes. Just don’t eat here, please. There are plenty of better restaurant options downtown.
View on GoogleThe recently launched "Mother of All Brunches" Saturday brunch session was really awesome. Perfect for happy bellies with its over-the-top, filled-to-the-brim three-tiered platter and free flow champagne, prosecco, wines, beer or gin cocktails. Great for a cosy gathering of friends and loved ones and an excellent way to chill the weekend away!
View on GoogleCame here during very silent hours (weekend late afternoon) so my experience might be different. Food was decent, staff was friendly. However it certainly was pricey even for a hotel restaurant. Would not come back here without a discount. Very uniquely decorated though, will come back for a drink.
View on GoogleFood was exceptional for their set lunch. The beef tartar was amazing, the pork belly was pretty well done and goes well with the paired side, ended the meal with a chocolate dessert. Portion is pretty good for a 3 course meal. The price tag of less than SGD40 before service charge and GST is a steal for the quality of food and the environment. With it being so near to office, I will be back v.soon.
