We expected Lau Pa Sat to be a tourist trap but were surprised by how reasonably priced the food was. We tried the Thunder Rice from a halal certified stall and it turned out to be a great choice. The flavors were light and well balanced, with a refreshing tea/soup that complemented the dish perfectly. The vegetables were fresh and not overly salty, which was a nice change from typical hawker fare. If you’re looking for a healthy, affordable option in the CBD this is definitely worth a try. We came back again and tried their long bean with minced chicken rice. It was flavourful and went well with the rice. The portion size was generous too.

1st time trying, ordered the chick peas for satiety and healthier choice. Soup followed others' tip for less water, when tasted on its own=bland. However the anchovies are salty and mixed in=elevated flavour=must have. Can give the peanuts a miss if do not like to chew much, adds crunch but sadly not aromatic or flavored type. Staff is brisk mannered, but not rude, overall will return again.

Basic Basil Chicken Egg Vegetables Set and Basil Omelette. Was annoyed my lady insisted on coming here to eat. If she could just say she was hungry, that'd be fine. But she kept on insisting I was hungry!! Despite me protesting multiple times that I was not at all hungry. And then she couldn't finish, or rather she said she couldn't finish. So I had to finish, and then that became evidence that I was indeed hungry. 🤷‍♂ What logic is this?! Mom energy max. 💢 She said she concluded I was indeed hungry afterwards as well. Lau pa sats super crowded as usual. Everything smells like BBQ smoke afterwards, including my lady's hair. Yum 😋. Also a decent showing of football fans.

I wasn't sure when I read the board saying thunder tea rice would be good. Glad I still went ahead and bought the vegetarian option (very difficult to find veg options and I was happy to find one here in lau pa sat) and it did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and how good the rice with the toppings and tea tastes. It was worth it in my opinion. Highly recommended!

Tried out Thunder Tea Rice on a weekday for lunch. Continuous line that moved quickly; make sure to join the queue line. 5 other locations. - Thunder tea rice ($6.20 SGD regular) - opted for the brown rice. Bowl tasted very healthy. The tea soup was unique but didn't love the flavours
