Went on New Years. They had a nice exhibit on Traditional Lion Dance on the ground floor and a free exhibit interactive exhibit on the 2nd. Spent over an hour here and it was very informative. My son enjoyed the kopi making video game on the 2nd floor exhibit.

The Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre is a vibrant testament to how tradition evolves. Located conveniently above Chinatown Point MRT, this modern hub brilliantly bridges the gap between heritage and contemporary life. Unlike a dusty museum, the SCCC feels alive. The Singapo人 exhibition on Level 2 is a must-see. It thoughtfully unpacks the complex question, “What does it mean to be a Chinese Singaporean?” Through interactive displays, nostalgic kopitiam setups, and multimedia art, it celebrates the unique "rojak" blend of Chinese customs with Malay, Indian, and Western influences. It’s profoundly relatable and avoids being overly didactic. The striking rooftop garden offers a surprising escape with stunning city views and whimsical sculptures, while the ground-level theatre hosts everything from indie concerts to wayang kulit. I also appreciate the temporary galleries; the rotating exhibits on local photography or pop culture always feel fresh and relevant. The only minor drawback is wayfinding—the signage to the main exhibition hall could be clearer from the entrance. However, the friendly volunteers quickly set you straight. If you are a tourist looking for more than just a temple visit, or a local seeking to understand your own identity, this centre is a gem. It proves that culture isn't static; it’s living, breathing, and constantly being rewritten. A smart, engaging, and necessary space for Singapore.

We enjoyed visiting the SINGAPO人 exhibition and had fun revisiting familiar items and experiences from childhood days. It has been a well curated exhibit of everything Singapore and Chinese. Every visitor gets a wrist band that has a chip, allowing them to interact with the exhibit like polls. A custom card reflecting the guest's personality (eg. Explorer) can be printed towards the end.

Went on a public holiday, the hours stated on the website was accurate. No entrance fees required. The exhibition area was small, took us about max 1 hour to tour the entire area. It was quite interactive though, with efforts made to personalise the experience though wearable RFID tags and sporadic questionnaires throughout the exhibition hall. You can print out a personalised postcard detailing your "culural inclination" at the end of the exhibition - quite an amusing and fun affair. My kids had fun. There's a ground floor exhibition on lion dance troupes, which I felt was interesting to learn that there were so many different types of lion head designs, each with their own heritage and cultural significance. The bonus was the rooftop garden which offered a panoramic view of the southern coastline of Singapore. Overall a rather unique experience!

First time going to SCCC. Surprised by how big it is. Only inconvenience was the performance I am attending is on level 9, hence a need to wait for the lifts. Thankfully they have sufficient lifts to bring the crowd up. Alternatively, one can take the escalator all the way up. One can enjoy the view while riding the escalator.
