Westland Restaurant has been a regular place for me. Their dishes are consistently good and recently they have 52% discount on 4 dishes which we ordered two. Actually all four dishes worth a try. Their signature braised pork bun is a must and the sweet sour soup cannot be missed. The pancake is my favourite. It is still the same indoor setting for years and it feels so homely. 7pm is the busiest time. The staff are friendly and very responsive. The food never disappoint me. Yes, sometimes it might not taste good to others but to me, it always brings back the memories when I first visited it as a child.
View on GoogleWas my 1st time dinning here recommended from my bro in law after recovery from operation. The kong bak bao was fantastic. I even taobao additional 5 more to enjoy the softness of the bun wrap in the juicness of the kong bak in lettuce and plasley. Lady boss was outspoken and friendly. The dish recommended was tasteful and generous in portion. Had a very good meal and would return to try out other dishes as well. Thank you Westlake.
View on GoogleOne of those old school zi char places that reminds you why some restaurants survive for decades without needing fancy marketing or social media hype. Came by after hearing good things about their 扣肉包 and honestly, it fully lived up to expectations. The braised pork was soft, rich and flavourful without being overly salty or greasy. The bun soaked up the sauce perfectly. Comfort food at its best. Their 扬州炒饭 (Yang Zhou fried rice) was another standout. You can immediately taste the wok hey from the first bite, which is getting harder and harder to find these days. Fragrant, nicely separated grains, generous ingredients and not oily. Simple dish but done properly. What I appreciated most was that nothing felt overly commercialised or “modernised” for the sake of trends. Just solid cooking, good portions and flavours that feel familiar and satisfying. Service was fast despite the crowd and the atmosphere had that nostalgic family restaurant vibe where you see big groups sharing dishes across the table. Definitely a place I’ll come back to whenever craving proper old school Chinese comfort food. Highly recommend trying the 扣肉包 and fried rice if it’s your first visit.
View on GoogleFirst visit to this hidden restaurant in Farrer and it was surprisingly good. My personal favorite was the frog stew which was so well braised and the frogs were very meaty. Their signature is their kong ba bao which did not disappoint; the sauce is on the sweeter side and the ratio of the fat to meat was perfect!! The prawns were really fresh and crispy too. The staff were very attentive and we had a great time here. Highly recommended!!
View on GoogleEstablished by Mr. Lim Tong Law, a physical education teacher love cooking and does purchasing for the restaurant this iconic zi char institution has been serving Singaporean favorites for decades. After leaving his teaching career behind, Mr. Lim spent 25 years building the business with his family before passing it down to his son Robert. Robert's leadership ensured the preservation of traditional recipes and the restaurant's classic charm. Now, Matthew Lim, Robert's son, has joined the family business, bringing fresh ideas and a new perspective. The Kong Bak Pow was a highlight, with tender meat and freshly steamed buns. The Ngoh Hiang was crispy and flavorful, while the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Other dishes, such as the deep-fried eggs omelette and fried rice, were also enjoyable. The salted chicken and deep-fried dumplings were decent. Service was prompt, and parking was convenient. Wheelchair accessibility is available, but kid-friendly seating could be improved.
