Mikey's Taverna
the pizza we make at Mikey's is our pride and joy - slowly fermented in the chiller for 48 hours; hand stretched; beautiful leopard spots; crunchy yet pillowy-soft.

Their weekday dinner promo is quite worth it at $28.80++ for a soup, main (pizza or pasta), drink and dessert. We tried the burrata & basil tomato pizza and the Spanish octopus pasta. Really liked the pizza texture. It was chewy, somewhat like sourdough, and the slightly charred crust added extra flavour. The burrata itself was a little disappointing though. The cheese flavour was not as rich as expected, and there was a slight watery taste from the liquid it was stored in. Also felt that they could have informed us earlier that they had run out of basil, either before ordering or before serving the dish. To their credit, they did provide some salad greens as a replacement after we asked why there was no basil topping. The octopus pasta was enjoyable overall. Pasta was cooked nicely al dente, and the octopus texture was done well too. The only small issue was that the tomato-wine sauce leaned slightly too salty. Overall, still had a pleasant dining experience. Service staff were responsive, and the Italian-style interior gave the place a nice and comfortable ambience.
View on GoogleRead about Mikey's Taverna on socials and gave it a try even though we don't stay around the area but we left disappointed. We ordered: • Pumpkin Soup: It was the first dish served and it was tasty. Hence we were looking forward to the other dishes we ordered. • Ragu alla Bolognese (PORK) - Pasta - it had a prominent porky taste and the overall pasta was quite stale. We did feedback to the staff and she said in future we can tell the restaurant after the first bite and they can re-cook it for us. But in my opinion, I think we do need a few bites to determine. • Pineapple e Mortadella - Pizza - The overall taste and ingredients were lower than average. The dough/pizza/crust was quite nicely done though. • Bailey's Basque Cheese Cake - Sadly it was such a small slice and tasted like it has been kept refrigerated for a while. I showed the staff a comparison to the menu picture which covered the entire plate versus what was served (½ of the plate). It costs $9.50 and they discounted $2 based on our feedback. We also saw one of the staff talking rudely to another table of guests. But we only saw what happened and did not know what led to the situation. Sadly I will not visit Mikey's Taverna again despite its homely vibes.
View on GoogleIt's a nice, causal atmosphere, much like home. The staff are friendly. The food is excellent! The duck confit pasta and tiramisu dessert are must order. You can order Tapas from Micasa, a Spanish restaurant next door. The food is brought over & you can have the best of both Italian & Spanish food. The potato tapas are very delicious. Don't miss it. We will definitely come again.
View on GoogleWe came without a reservation but the waitress was helpful to arrange us at a counter table right beside the entrance facing the window which was great. However it was a bit warm as the door was not closed. We ordered the prosciutto pizza 🍕 & the Prawn linguine. Pizza was bit too dry for our liking. Prawn linguine was good 👍🏼 atmosphere indoors was good with the Italian songs.
View on GoogleParking here can be quite a challenge if you want a lot near the eating area. We came off peak so it wasn’t so bad but it was a slight challenge already. Despite this, if I am in the neighbourhood, I will eat here again. The aged beef pizza has hearty balance of taste, coupled with the crisp but light dough. We were so tempted to order another but we knew we weren’t able to finish. The crispy pork is another must order. It is at least a 15-20min wait, as stated in the menu. The skin is crisp and light. There was a good portion of lean meat but remained tender and juicy. With the pesto sauce and mustard, and a little bit of spicy sauce, this is very satisfying. We asked for salt to add to the squid ink pasta so this was a little under for us. Overall service and experience is great!
