This porridge place has been around for a long time. Used to come often for supper with few old friends. Came today for brunch. My favourite is the 虾米辣,teochews and hokkiens will know this dish well. Still tasted the same as before! The fish is fresh and not overcooked. The bittergourd is smooth with plenty of eggs and the cabbage is cooked till soft with its natural cabbage sweetness saturated into its gravy. Ok.. maybe the chef added a bit of sugar. There's many variety offered such as fried radish egg, braised pork belly and skin, steamed meat patty etc. Come early before lunch time and you will sure find a table.
View on GoogleI recently tried this Teochew porridge stall, and while it was decent, it didn't wow me. The porridge dishes were average, but the lala was surprisingly good! Service was pretty standard. If you're nearby and craving porridge, it's worth checking out, but manage your expectations.
View on GoogleFood variety is quite alot, food is also rather decent enough for me. We cameby around 6.30pm on a weekend and there wasn't much of a crowd so had seats immediately. Would reccomend the bitter gourd egg, and braised food items. The gu lao rou sadly, was a miss for us.
View on GoogleI read lots of comments here saying it’s decent at best but honestly I’m a fan of this place! Their dishes come in decent portions and taste great. Loved the sweet and sour pork which came in huge somewhat crispy chunks. Quite tender on the inside. Sweet potato leaves are fried well too. Main gripe was the minced pork which was very salty in my opinion. But still, it went well with the porridge and I highly recommend you to pair the salty minced pork with the porridge!
View on GoogleYummy old school Teochew mui- the true test is when you taste their braised cabbage, so flavorful and not overly seasoned w the softest mushiest cabbage. Highly recommend. For people whining about this place and saying they can find better traditional Teochew porridge , pls wake up your idea. If you can find better Teochew porridge pls let me know in your review. It’s hard to find Teochew porridge and I’d say they do it well without crazy prices.
