Although visually challenged people constitute a very small percentage of the total Singapore population, we should not be excluding them in our activities. While we can't focus on expending funds to enhance their world, we can do little things to be more inclusive. Volunteering to bring them for experiences in parks, shopping, etc can make a difference to their lives. But on a daily basis, educate our people about how we can help - crossing the road, taking a bus - these are things we can do every time. Making the environment (currently with a lot of construction) of their school and organisation HQ) safer is one thing we shouldn't wait till after the construction of the NSC is completed.

Really eye-opening experience to see what it's like in the life of a blind person! While it was a little nerve-wracking at first to be surrounded in complete darkness, the chatty guides constantly provided guidance to participants. Their candid sharings also helped broaden my perspective and understand the human side of the visually impaired. A great lesson in empathy for anyone, and more people should come here to try it out!

Happy to bring three friends there. It was quite an experience and helps to sensitize people to the lives of the visually impaired. This is so meaningful and I wish more people had access to this experience.

Amazing and educational. I had no idea what my experience would be like in this tour. The team took us to an unlit series of rooms, where we had the experience of moving around, relying on feel and sound for our ability to navigate the rooms. Our kind and helpful guide (H) was very open and a great communicator. He assisted us safely through the rooms, explaining how his blindness affects his daily life and answered our questions on how he and the blind manage their lives with adjustments. We had so many questions, and he was very open to help us understand best we can. The rooms varied from kitchens, living rooms, a ‘busy street’ and even a cafe, where we took a break to eat and drink, all in the dark. I felt emotional listening to his story, and it has left an impression on me. I hope others who visit will feel the same.

Unique experience to learn about life in the dark! In the guided tour we walked with blind canes 🦯 in complete darkness, touching, hearing, and smelling artificial park, street, kitchen and so on in protected environment. I in general recommend everyone without visual disabilities to experience at least once for a more understanding society.
