Came for the chicken rice only, and thought it was pretty good! The chicken was tender and paired with a good light sauce, and was a good portion for the price in Tiong Bahru, especially when it’s air conditioned 👍🏻 chilli was spicy as well, and tastes great when paired with ginger too. The only downside is the rice where it wasn’t as oily as I would like, hence losing a bit of that chicken rice fragrance. Good plate of chicken rice, a solid 4 stars and one that I would have anyday 👍🏻
View on GoogleValue Singaporean-Chinese Food 👍 In my opinion, Kampong Chicken restaurant offers a good value. Their Kampong Chicken and Chicken Rice are on par with most chicken rice in Singapore. Some say the chicken rice is bland but I think the rice is cooked perfectly and is not overpowering. The Kampong Chicken is tender and juicy I also enjoyed their Steamed Minced Meat with Salted Fish, though it has a bit of smell from the salted fish, this still gave me a sense of Chinese food comfort-feel. Overall food is great, the only concern would be that it’s rather far to any MRT stations and parking is not easily accessible either.
View on GoogleHad half a chicken, 2 rice and a sambal kangkong. Chicken was ok i guess. Issue was the kangkong. It had sand inside. Told the staff and they explained that it was the sambal. I have eaten so many sambal kangkong to think that i am able to differentiate between sand and the crunchiness of dried shrimp. Didn’t touch the vege again. Take ur money elsewhere. The staff absolutely dun care.
View on GoogleWe ordered steam fish with caipo (nice and fresh!), kampong chicken and rice (nice!), lotus soup (I find it a bit salty), watercress soup (I didnt try, cant commend), salted fish beansprout (not bad). Our bill is a little expensive due to the fish. We didnt drive, we took MRT @ Havelock (TEL)
View on GoogleThey open only for cash or Paylah, which is super troublesome to pay the bill… chicken rice is normal, soup a bit sour, chicken liver is not recommend
