Sushi Tei at Tiong Bahru Plaza offers a very pleasant environment if you are looking for a comfortable place to sit down and unwind. The restaurant design creates a cosy and relaxed ambiance, making it an inviting spot for a casual family dinner or a quiet catch-up with friends. When it comes to the menu, the food is quite normal. While everything is decently prepared, fresh, and cleanly presented, the flavors lean toward the predictable side and lack any standout, spectacular elements to elevate the dining experience beyond a standard Japanese chain meal. It functions perfectly as a reliable, fuss-free neighborhood option where the comforting, easygoing atmosphere is the main highlight rather than a groundbreaking culinary adventure.

Came for a weekday lunch with my family. Sushi Tei is a trusted brand that has been around since the 90s. The quality of food is still good. The miso cod is value for many. And so is the grilled kampachi collar and various maki rolls. Service was prompt and eatery environment relaxed. Had a hearty meal.

Had dinner here this week and honestly, the food hit the spot. The nabe soup was comforting without being overpowering — just the right balance. Service was warm and friendly, which made the experience even better. My only gripe: the price. You’ll definitely pay a bit more here (around 20% higher than similar places), so it’s not somewhere I’d go regularly… but for a cozy splurge, it’s great.

I visited Sushi Tei(Tiong Bahru outlet) on 24 May 2026. It was a Sunday so there was a crowd and I had waited for about 30mins in the queue but I expected it as it was a Sunday evening. After being ushered in, the staff took my order and food came timely. Food is delicious and high in quality as usual. What impressed on me the most was the entire service crew that evening, especially the manager, Michelle and another middle aged gentleman. The gentleman actually even wiped down the seats for us before we sat down. Despite the busy peak hour, they still maintained their calm, still ensuring quality service, being courteous, all in a well controlled manner. Of course, the other staff members were also just as great. Although I would prefer to go to Vivocity outlet usually, but I think I will still come back to Tiong Bahru to hope to see these lovely people again. Thank you for the lovely evening.

The place is very clean and comfortable, good spacing, the atmosphere is relaxing with soft music. Yakiniku beef is tender, taste just right, not overly salty. Food wise, NamaHotate and Engawa sushi are very fresh, and the table service are excellent, the staffs are very attentive and efficient. Thumb up! Very good place for meet-up friends and business associates.
