Dinner set was S$100/ pax. Creativity and presentation was good. However, not so attractive for taste buds. Flavours was blend.

It was my first time visiting Takumi at Keppel Bay, as it is an establishment way out of our usual dating budget. I was lucky to be given a chance to have dinner at Takumi with my fiancé as part of the Hokkaido Campaign event hosted by JapanPoint, through a common Japan-based friend. The ambience at Takumi is perfect for date nights and gatherings with friends. We took a peek at the menu; they do set meals as well which feature A5 grade wagyu too. We were served summer specials such as Nagashi Somen 流しそうめん (literally translating into 'flowing noodles'), grilled corn and ayu sumibiyaki (charcoal-grilled trout). Anyone in Singapore who has watched Japan Hour on CNA would have seen Nagashi Somen featured at some point - elaborately-constructed tubular bamboo structures with cool water running down, as servings of thin noodles flow along. It is a typical Japanese summer meal, usually enjoyed with friends and family, to beat the sweltering summer heat. I was excited to see the Nagashi Somen structure with my own eyes, having seen it only on TV and never having the opportunity to experience it for myself. The fiancé and I had a great time fishing the noodles out of the water with our chopsticks. Taste-wise, we enjoyed it tremendously. It was light on the palette and we liked how the thin noodles went great with the chilled dipping broth, especially since Singapore's weather has been pretty unforgiving lately. The grilled sweet corn at Takumi was another highlight. In Singapore, we would usually come across steamed sweet corn or sweet corn in soup in our local cuisine. We appreciated how the grilling process at Takumi elevated the natural sweetness of the corn, while adding a slightly smokey aroma to it. It was like eating popcorn, only that it was really juicy. Yes, it is something simple, but those who cook would know that the simplest dishes are often the hardest to master.

Excellent food, excellent location. Good service but usually packed during lunch. Special lunch menu is value for money. Ordered their special set with a bit of everything. Food was nicely prepared. Enjoyed the food totally.

Good lunch set but could be a little larger. A view of the marina would have been nice. But great and tasty food.
