Service here is excellent. The lead waitress was so attentive to the needs of the little one and even brought him a duck for him to be entertained as seen in one of the pictures. Food was served fast and served hot. Duck was delicious. We were given a heads up that the roast pork would be on the fat side but it was those fats that make the pork succulent! Absolutely love the food and service here. Will definitely be back for more! Decor was nice and certainly have the vibes of CNY!

Whenever I’m craving duck, I’ll usually head to Dian Xiao Er. Their signature herbal roast duck is simply heavenly — tender, flavorful, and infused with rich herbal notes. The savory-sweet herbal gravy is the real star; it pairs perfectly with steamed rice and make⁹s every bite extra satisfying. The curry fish is another standout dish. The curry gravy tastes fresh and fragrant, with a nice depth of flavor that keeps you going back for more. Prices have been creeping up lately, so I’ll probably visit occasionally just to indulge in the duck. That said, the oriental-themed ambiance is warm and pleasant, making it a comfortable spot for a casual meal.

Dinner on Saturday. It was probably crowded, so the tofu dish came out lukewarm. The herbal duck was still decent, but the Mongolian pork ribs were a big letdown — it seemed like the dish was pre-cooked, set aside, then quickly reheated before serving. I’ve eaten at other branches and the food quality there was better than Vivo. Service staff were good though.

Not impressed with the service of this branch. Despite communicated clearly to their staff we would be paying the bill as the host, their staff proceeded to settle the bill with the guests quietly. This really embarrassed us as the host when we wanted to settle the bill after the meal. As a Chinese restaurant, they should know better the protocol and honour of the host paying and not settling the bill with their guests.

Dian Xiao Er – VivoCity We had a really satisfying meal here with a spread of their signature dishes. Of course, we couldn’t miss their famous herbal roast duck with Angelica herbs — fragrant, tender, and full of flavour as always. We also ordered the double-boiled black chicken soup, which was rich and comforting, and the pork tripe pork rib pepper soup that had a nice peppery kick without being overpowering. The pickled mustard fish was appetising and well-balanced, while the roasted char siew was nicely caramelised and juicy. For vegetables, the stir-fried garlic chives and stir-fried cauliflower were simple but done well, adding a good balance to the meal. Overall, the food was consistently good across all the dishes we tried. A very enjoyable dining experience and definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re craving hearty, Chinese-style comfort dishes in VivoCity.
