Rustic food centre with a lot of comfort food. All the hawker uncle aunties including kopi uncle and aunties are in their 50s and above making the vibes of this place very similar to an untouched hidden gem to experience the true Singapore hawker culture with no Michelin stars in side. Only worry is it gets too crowded once Green Corridor reopens.
View on GoogleMost of the stalls at this morning market open from around 4:30/5am and close before lunchtime. Do take note that the fishball mee stall opens on Sat & Sun only from around 5am and closes around 9am or earlier if they're sold out. Highly recommend the fishball mee, economical bee hoon, chee kueh and peanut congee (near vegetarian stall). The prices here are extremely affordable because they're catering to the senior citizens that live in the estate.
View on GoogleA modest wet market & food centre with around 25 stalls spread over 2 levels, making it a convenient place for both groceries & a good local meal. On Mondays, the wet market & many food stalls are closed, so options can be limited. For the rest of the week, the centre is most lively in the early hours - stalls typically open in the morning & close by late afternoon. By evening, the place winds down & becomes quiet, with most of the centre in darkness. If driving, the nearest MSCP is at Block 113A, just a short walk away.
View on GoogleThis is a small quaint hawker centre that is MUCH more bustling in the morning before 11am, and more known for its cheap prices given the elderly residents that it mainly serves. The morning crowd can usually be seen at the stall, Lao Ding Mei Shi (老丁美食) where the most popular item seems to be the $2 carrot cake. The breakfast crowd also patronises stalls like En Ji Yong Tau Foo, Warong Azizah Malay Food, Lu Jiang Drinks stall (soya bean/bean curd), and Kim Kee Vegetarian. From 11.30am onwards, most of the stalls would be closed. This often gives first-time visitors the impression that this is a ‘dead’ hawker centre as compared to its bigger nearby cousins like Redhill Food Centre and Bukit Merah View Hawker Centre ;-) Lunch can be had at Rice Garden, Rahumath Muslim Food, Tiong Bahru Chun Fa Wanton Noodle, Jit Man Prawn Noodle & Lor Mee, and 金得运 Hong Kong Style Stewed Soup & Steamed Rice. Be cautioned that some of these stalls can be closed for business unannounced sometimes. Come night time, usually only Rahumath would still be open and you’re better off having your dinner at the nearby Hock Hua coffee shop, which serves zichar dishes, popiah and otah. PS. the washroom is located at the wet market side and is surprisingly clean and odorless for a typical hawker center washroom.
