Highlander Coffee Bar is a small cafe tucked along the Kampong Bahru stretch, roasting their beans in-house and serving specialty coffee at very reasonable prices. I dropped by on a weekday afternoon and the vibe was super relaxed, a couple of regulars chatting away and people from nearby SGH grabbing coffee. This place definitely feels like an underrated gem. The Gouda BBQ Chicken Sandwich ($9.80) completely exceeded expectations. The sandwich was toasted perfectly with crisp bread and properly melted, stretchy cheese. The chicken was tender and juicy, while the lettuce and tomatoes added freshness and crunch. They were also generous with the BBQ sauce and mayo, which made every bite flavourful without feeling too heavy. Portion was generous too, especially for under $10. The Flat White ($4.50) was excellent as well - smooth, creamy, nutty, and served at the right temperature. Really hard to find good coffee below $5 these days, so this felt like amazing value. Definitely among the best, if not the best, sandwiches I've had in Singapore. I tried the zesty Cajun chicken with focaccia bread and it was delicious and extremely aromatic! The customer service was also great!

Feeling a bit peckish coming from a badly run seminar at Expo so decided to try this place on a whim which I passed by while loitering around the vicinity. Had the beef pastrami focaccia n a cuppicino. Was very satisfying sandwich in terms of taste and satiety. Don't agree with prior reviewers that the prices are unreasonable...this is after all not JB where you can expect a similar sandwich to go for less than $10. Owners are running a business and not a charity, yah...so give them a break. I wouldn't say it's the best sandwich I've had but definitely for price point it's great value especially since they don't charge service charge or GST. Can't expect any more than that and still be able to survive in Singapore. As a comparison, such sandwiches from a similar eatery in Singapore would easily cost upwards of $14-15 not inclusive of service charge n GST.

What surprised me most wasn’t just the coffee — it was how incredibly good the sandwiches were. The Peppery Passion Tuna on focaccia was a standout. The focaccia had the perfect texture: crisp on the outside, soft inside. The peppery tuna filling added just the right kick, making every bite thoroughly enjoyable. Also tried the BBQ Gouda Chicken. Thick, juicy chicken paired with layers of melted Gouda and a well-balanced BBQ sauce made for a rich yet satisfying sandwich. Easily one of the best sandwich spots in town, with excellent coffee to complete the experience.

Chanced upon this place a while back and started remote working here from time to time. I really enjoy their beef pastrami focaccia & iced black. Love the way they toast the focaccia! Generally a no frills cafe & definitely more affordable than most. Service is friendly & they have a lot of regular customers from those working ard the area
