Been a while since I had Botak Jones & happy that my family enjoyed the meal. Great that they have lite menus for small eaters & kids, perfect for us! Medium rare steak was nice on its own w/o the sauce, a little chewy for the kids though. Lamb was a tad dry & similarly a juicer burger patty would have been perfect! That said, the mushroom soup was packed with mushroom slices, yums! All in a pretty good meal at decent prices, the kids are looking forward to returning! 😋

Kitty and I recently joined our motorbike friends for lunch at Original Botak Jones, located in an industrial park canteen. While the portions were generous, the food itself was a bit disappointing, and the overall experience was a bit underwhelming. We ordered a variety of dishes, including: - 2 orders of Cajun Fries (Large) - 1 order of Chicken Gumbo (Large) - 2 orders of Fish and Chips (Set) - 1 order of Mushroom Soup - 1 order of Grilled Salmon (Set) - 1 order of Baked Cheese Potato - 1 order of Double Botak Burger (Set) - 1 order of Caesar Chicken The Cajun fries were okay, but unfortunately, the salads were really not up to standard, and both the onion soup and mushroom soup lacked flavor. It's a shame, because the fish in the fish and chips was decent, and the salmon (which I tried a bite of) was also okay. We shared and tried each other's dishes, but nothing stood out as a favorite. The canteen itself wasn't very vibrant, and it was rather quiet, not as clean as the typical food court. The prices were also a bit steep, considering the setting and the quality of the food. We felt that the prices were closer to those found in food courts or restaurants, where we would expect a higher standard of food and service, especially since it is self-service with no air conditioning or ambiance to speak of. The lack of air conditioning definitely made the place feel a bit hot and uncomfortable. Overall, it's clear that Original Botak Jones needs to work on the quality of their salads and soups and pricing to better match the expectations for the price point.

Original Botak Jones (Depot Road): Good Portions, But Room for Improvement on Flavor, Ambiance, and Value Alright, folks, listen up! Donkey and I recently joined our motorbike friends for lunch at Original Botak Jones, located in an industrial park canteen. While the portions were generous, the food itself was a bit disappointing, and the overall experience was a bit underwhelming. What We Loved: • The Portions: The portions were generous. • The Fish: The fish in the fish and chips was decent. • The Salmon: The salmon was also okay. What We Didn't Love: • The Salads: The salads were really not up to standard. • The Soup: The onion soup and mushroom soup lacked flavor. • The Ambiance: The canteen itself wasn't very vibrant, and it was rather quiet, not as clean as the typical food court. The lack of air conditioning definitely made the place feel a bit hot and uncomfortable. • The Price: The prices were also a bit steep, considering the setting and the quality of the food. We felt that the prices were closer to those found in food courts or restaurants, where we would expect a higher standard of food and service, especially since it is self-service with no air conditioning or ambiance to speak of. Donkey's Take: The food could have been better for the price. My Take: I was hoping for more flavor in the soups. I was also disappointed that the salads weren't very good. Rating: • Food: 3/5 (Decent fish and salmon, but the soups and salads were disappointing) • Service: 4/5 (Friendly and efficient service) • Atmosphere: 2.5/5 (Not very vibrant, a bit quiet, and not very clean) Overall: 3/5 Our Verdict: Overall, it's clear that Original Botak Jones needs to work on the quality of their salads and soups and pricing to better match the expectations for the price point.

Was very excited when they moved back into the neighbourhood but haven’t had time to try after hearing about the queues. I remember their affordable steaks very fondly and was pumped when opportunity presented itself for us to go. But alas! They must have changed the recipe as it wasn’t as flavourful as I remembered - while well cooked, the meat was looking so much paler. The lamb and fish and chip were ok and quite value for monies and we also ordered a vital burger takeaway. Frankly am more than a little disappointed given all the wonderful experiences I had before they were sold off and bought back again.

Timing & Service Came here at 11am on a Saturday. The food was ready within 12 minutes. There were 5 staff which is great to see at a time when people are cutting costs and understaffed. Service was smooth...but also...what do you want from service???? Its a hawker centre in the middle of an industrial estate...you order, pay and collect. This is part of the charm of Botak Jones. Food, Price & Portions: Huge portions! We had fries left over from our sets so you might want to share...or ask for smaller servings. We ordered the Fish & chips: not British style but Clubhouse style. Large portion! Comes with fries and slaw but we opted for green salad. Tar tar sauce could be more acidic to cut through. Gumbo & mushroom soup: loved it and heaped with ingredients but should probably share it as were super full. Chilli dog: fun meal to eat and the chilli was well seasoned and not too salty. Swapped slaw for green salad. I didn't travel from across the island to eat here and was not here at peak periods. But we had a good meal and the outdoor area of the food court is very nice...Al frescooo! Lol! Live a little people!
