Saw the Facebook video by Stella recommending this place and decided to head down with my family to give it a try. Honestly, the experience was a bit of a rollercoaster—starting with some serious frustration at the ordering counter, but ending on a decent note with the food. Here is our breakdown of the experience: a) The Service & Hidden "Rules" (Ordering Drama) Communicating with the staff at the start was incredibly frustrating. The communication was bad, likely because the staff's first language was neither English nor Mandarin, leading to some communication problems. We wanted to order the 2 for $28.80 promotional crabs, which requires a minimum spend of $30 on normal-priced items. We thought we hit the mark by ordering: * Fish Head Steamboat ($19.90) * Har Cheong Gai (S) ($13) * Gu Lu Yok (S) ($12) * 5 x Rice ($5) *Total: $49.90* However, the staff rejected this, claiming that promotional items (the steamboat) and rice do not count toward the $30 minimum. This brought our "eligible" total down to $25. When we decided to drop the crab and just get the promotional $9 Cereal Prawn instead, she then claimed the Cereal Prawn also required a $30 minimum spend. When we pointed out that this wasn't mentioned in the video or on their signboard, she simply pointed to the menu, noted that the prawn photo was beside the crab photo, and said the same rules applied. 🙄 To just get on with our meal, we upgraded the Gu Lu Yok to a Medium ($18) to hit a qualified $31 spend and ordered both the crab and the prawn. (Plot twist: Mid-meal, another staff came over to tell us the Cereal Prawn was sold out anyway. We didn't care at that point, at least they removed it from the bill). b) The Food: Expectation vs. Reality 1. Fish Head Steamboat ($19.90 Promo) Unlike the Stella video which showed 7 uncooked prawns and a separate side plate of vegetables, we received 5 cooked prawns and a small portion of vegetables already inside the pot. Only the flower crab was served uncooked as advertised. It’s a traditional charcoal steamboat, so it takes long to boil. The soup was actually not bad, and they gave one refill. It came with about 7 large pieces of Hong Ji fish, but they had a lot of bones. Sister felt it had a fishy smell, though the rest of us didn't notice it as much. The flower crab inside was a bit "hu-hu" (mushy/lacking texture)—you can safely skip it. 2. Har Cheong Gai (S) ($13) Came with 8 pieces. It was very oily—it looked like they were in a rush and didn’t drain the oil properly before serving, leaving a visible layer of oil on the paper below. That being said, the flavor was actually good! 3. Gu Lu Yok (M) ($18) Surprisingly, this sweet and sour pork came with zero pineapples. Despite that, it wasn't too bad. Not mind-blowing, but decent. 4. Chili Crab (2 for $28.80 Promo) 🦀 Hands down the best dish of the night. Do note that while the Stella video showed creamy butter crab or salted egg crab, the staff only allowed us to choose between black pepper or chili crab for the promotion. We went with chili, and they use mud crabs—not huge, but a decent size. Because they were male crabs, they were incredibly meaty and definitely not hu-hu. The meat was soft and nice. The chili sauce had a great flavor with a solid spicy kick. The only letdown? They don't serve fried mantou! Such a waste because the sauce was great. c) Final Verdict Overall, the service for the rest of the night was quite good and the waiting time was about 20 minutes. It is definitely worth trying the mud crabs during this promotional period, but do clarify their minimum-spend rules before you order!

A clean & well-lit kopi tiam with a great variety of cuisines - from local comfort food to international options. Very busy, especially during weekday lunch (11 am – 2 pm) due to nearby office workers and residents. + Inner seating well-ventilated and windy outdoor seating - Can clear the return tray station more quickly. Economic Rice stall (CHEAP @@) === Prices are same or even slightly cheaper than the nearby Bt Merah Central Food Centre 2 meat + 1 veg ($4) 2 veg + 1 meat ($3.50) = So-so taste + Less oily than other Cai Png stalls. Mala Xiang Guo === $2.30 per 100g. Min $7 Specialty Grilled Fish ($19.80) Fu Xing Charcoal Hong Kong Roasted Delights ==== Chicken Rice ($3.80) Charsiew Rice ($4) Roast Pork Rice ($4.20) !! Charsiew + Roast Pork Rice ($5) Mu Noodle versions - can be 0 to 30 cents more. Check detailed menu. Chicken ($15/28) Duck ($23, 45) Charsiew $46 kg !! Wu Xiang 5-Spice Prawn Fritters === This space was formerly occupied by “Redhill Wu Xiang 5-Spice Prawn Fritters”. Now it’s just “Wu Xiang 5-Spice Prawn Fritters” 😃 Ngor Hiong ($1.80) Prawn Cracker ($1.80) Oyster Cake ($2.80) Century Egg Minced Meat Porridge ($4.20) 164 Japanese-Korean Cuisines Japanese-Korean Cuisines ==== Pork Cutlet Rice ($5.80) Saba Fish Rice Set ($5.80) Unagi Rice ($8.80) SLOW Watch out for wrong orders. Jaggur Hussain Indian Food ==== Prata set 2pc ($2.50) Chicken Briyani ($6) Fish/ Prawn /Mutton Briyani ($7) Nasi/ Mee goreng ($4) Fong YTF ==== Once a larger eatery occupying two shop lots, they've downsized to a coffee shop stall Thankfully,, the flavours and food quality is still good. . Wide variety, with many fried options. Meatballs are great 80 cents per pc. BIG pieces. Min 7 pc, excluding rice/noodles !! $1.20 for premium items Rice/ noodles (90 cents) - though buying 8 pieces gets you a free bowl of rice/noodles Laksa gravy - thick but not cloying. Tom Yum soup - not that spicy + Free green bean soup = One of few stalls that refry and separate fried items. ==== Parking: Ample parking the hawker centre block, Blk 119, and Connection Towers, but they can get very crowded during weekdays.

Honestly gonna give you a super boring input on my caifan experience. Upsize caifan order of veg and meat, the price is absolutely affordable! I had this mean for less than $4.50 and they serve for lunch & dinner. They usually cook new batch of dishes for dinner which is quite unusual if you ask me! Great variety & low cost (considering our inflating economy)!

Discovered a new stall in this coffee shop selling soup and some rice dishes. I especially enjoy the Hakka Mei Cai Kou Rou with rice, which is reasonably priced and generously portioned, not to mention delicious. You could even request extra broth with no extra charges! The roasted chicken rice at the neighbouring stall is also a good option. Environment is what you could expect from a usual local hawker center, but they can improve by clearing up the return tray station more diligently.

[Edit 23/7/26]: new owner and has been renamed as 万家 Kopitiam. Super crowded now during lunch. New stalls include Prawn noodles, La Mian and Nasi Lemak. The ever popular Fong YTF and mixed rice stalls retain their usual spots. [Edit on 10/6/24] the non-alcoholic drinks are still on discount. Round of musical chairs: the Indian stall has moved to the back with a new Yong Tau Foo stall taking over its previous location. The dim sum stall has folded. A new western food stall, Deli Delight now occupies the space of the previous Jap-Korean stall, which in turn has moved to the space beside the fish steamboat stall. Review in 5/2024: Newly-revamped coffeeshop (opened 9/5/24) has more stalls and is brighter-looking now, with the drinks and Indian food stalls located prominently at the front compared to the last time when they were right at the back corners. Non-alcoholic drinks eg. tea/kopi are currently on discount (from $1) for 2 weeks from the opening date of 9/5/24. But the standard of the tehsi has dropped - the previous spectacled auntie is no longer working here.
