28th Jul’26 Depot Road Zhen Shan Mei Claypot Laksa/德普路真善美砂煲叻沙, located at Alexandra Village Food Centre, has earned multiple Michelin Bib Gourmand recognitions over the years. The stall is now run by the second generation, who took over from his aunt. I went straight for their famous Claypot Laksa, ordering the small size at S$6.00, with an extra S$3.00 for blood cockles. My bowl came with thin bee hoon, shredded chicken, fish cake slices, bean sprouts & tau pok/fried tofu puffs. However, I noticed that the portion seems to have gotten smaller over the years, especially the small bowl, which no longer comes with prawns & cockles. The broth is thick, rich & creamy, with coconut milk base. To me, it tastes more like a curry chicken gravy than the lighter, soupier style of laksa. The spice level is quite mild, but you can add chilli for more flavour & heat. Give it a try if you enjoy rich, heavy & deeply savoury flavours. Personally, I prefer a lighter, more balanced & soupier Katong style laksa, so this version isn’t quite my cup of tea.

Have been taking this laksa since 2000! Fortunately the claypot is used back to contain the yummy laksa! My always go to food when I go Alexandra Village Hawker Centre…

The laksa gravy is much with coconut milk, so it does taste good! The ingredients are fresh. Ordered the $8 claypot laksa, it comes with one medium prawn, the centre was de-shelled, left with the head and tail intact. The cockles are fresh too except the size is small. The thick mee hoon is smooth but does not soak up enough laksa gravy. So when eating the mee hoon it tasted slightly blended.

This bowl of laksa may look simple, but packed with rich umami and intense flavor, it offers unbeatable value at its price.

Came to try after sometime. Both the claypot and without. Not bad. But not as flavourful as the previous elderly chef. Cockles served are too little. Think 2-3 only for $6 claypot.
