Hup Seng duck rice is situated along Sin Ming Drive and is near to Kong Meng San Monastery. It’s a popular eating place for people to go over for lunch after praying at the monastery. The braised duck is very tender and adding their braised pork belly makes it a very complete meal. I particularly love their salted vegetable duck soup as it has a great punch to the flavour. If you want to beat the crowd, try to be there at 10-11am before the huge lunch crowd hits the coffeeshop!

Visited on Sat 1pm (next morning after the Get Fed episode was out) and they were still selling, lucky. Waited 10 mins and a longer Q formed after. The duck rice was really decent - super classic rendition with the breast meat that had a bit of chew and texture to absorb the gravy. The gravy is the super star here, that duck fat really made the white rice tasty. However minus one star for the bone shards in the meat that one needs to be careful with when biting down cos I hurt my tooth on a tiny fragment. The dark soup was surprisingly peppery but light with a hint of sweetness.

Had this on my to try list before it was featured by watermelon head but had to delayed trying due to Ryan. Anw skipped the episode so that i will have unbiased opinion, anw ordered braised duck rice $5.50 plus braised pork $1 plus salted vege duck soup for $6.80. Total $13.30. Duck: great Rice: great Braised pork: great Duck soup: excellent Lime sauce: good braised pork Amount for money: great While the duck was pretty tough i find it still reasonable as breast meat. More importantly it tasted very flavorful in a duck way and the savoury gravy just adds to the experience. Rice was individualized and dry in a good way since you are soaking with the gravy or soup. Braised pork was more on the fattier side so no issue with the tenderness and take the taste of the gravy. Overall the lime chili is more meant for the pork, i will highly recommend *not* to dip the duck to the sour sauce. While it is nice to have some acidity to cut the greasiness of the pork, the sourness is overwhelming and will just overshadow the taste and for duck you get a sour piece of tough meat. Speaking of overshadowing the gravy, it was actually a bit on the saltier side but not noticable if you dip into the sour sauce. Salted vege duck soup was excellent in the flavor complexity. Sour and peppery and a bit of savoriness. Some part of the duck leg was surprisingly still tender but most were understandably old. But nevertheless the taste is still very unique. The amount of duck meat given was alot for $5.50. Not only were there many pieces but they were large chunk of meat too! While the breast is not most tender nor the pork melts they still taste very good in an old school manner. Just a little salty. Do avoid the sour sauce to get the more authentic taste.

Very well braised duck, nicely cut and still tender. The duck rice was nice and tasty, quite comparable to those well known ones. We added on the gizzard and braised meat too. The braised meat was very tender, nice balance of fats to lean meat. A must try is the salted vegetable duck soup, well balanced of flavours and not overly sour, the duck meat was so soft that it slip from the bone. Came on a weekend around 11am+ and queue 40+ minutes for this. Worth to try if you are around the area. There’s also quite limited parking.

Visited this place for lunch and arrived around 12:30pm ⏰🍽️ Luckily we made it in time because the shop actually sold out and closed by 12:55pm 😅💨 Unfortunately, their popular salted veg duck soup 🦆 was already sold out by the time we ordered 😭 Still, the food we had was enjoyable and overall quite satisfying 🤤🔥 Can understand why the place is popular if they sell out so early every day 👍
