We ordered the Pork Katsu Curry Don and the Asahikawa Ramen, and both were really satisfying. The pork katsu was crispy and the curry was rich and comforting, paired nicely with the rice. The Asahikawa ramen was also a solid bowl of warm, savoury and comforting. It’s a casual and fuss-free place to enjoy ramen and rice bowls, and the food comes out quite quickly. Overall a decent meal and a good spot if you’re craving affordable Japanese food in the Thomson area.

Had brilliant food and lady at the counter made the effort to give my son a metal fork and spoon for him to eat more comfortably. So nice! Good service that went the extra mile.madam Soo Chee

First time had lunch at this restaurant. Ordered pan fried salmon and mushrooms on fluffy rice and chawanmushi. For a senior who is on a strict diet of low sodium and sugar, the pan fried salmon suits me (could not detect any sodium) and the steamed egg in tea bowl was not overly salty as well like in some restaurants. Best news is they accept cash payment.

A place get a quick meal with some standard but need to pay a bit. The ramen with butter is always the item to order - Hokkiado Butter Corn Chasyu Ramen. Taste of the soup is good and the Chasyu is soft and tender even it’s thick. (SGD13.90) The rice item looks big on the menu but note that it’s the size of the smaller rice bowl (like those used in Chinese restaurants for rice). So for those big eater.. take note. To me, I like the Salmon Oyako Tarta Don. Love the freshness of the salmon and yummy fish roe and crispy rice that mixed with the usual sushi rice. (SGD15.90) So.. I will usually order the rice set if I’m not hungry as the sashimi is fresh and I like it. If I’m hungry.. I will order the ramen. You can always make it a “Set Meal” by adding $3 or $6. If you are around and everywhere is packed.. can try out the food here!

We had lunch there today, and the food quality was decent. Nothing too fantastic, but not bad at all. Prices are very reasonable as well. The seating area is small, and it's free seating, which can be quite unpleasant because solo diners and couples occupy the 4 seaters, and families with children and larger groups have nowhere to be seated during peak meal times. What's worse is that these solo and couple diners don't leave after they finish their meal. While we were there, the solo diner continued to occupy a 4 seater table to watch videos off his phone. The couple diners continued to have a chat at their 4 seater table after their meal. The food portions were quite small at first glance, but I was definitely full after my Bara Chirashi Don meal. Another comment is that the ventilation is bad, so try to avoid the tables nearest to the kitchen if you don't want your clothes and hair to smell like deep-fried food.
