A moist version of HKM which I prefer. Was told to review on Google if nice. So I said, sure, I would still review, even if not nice. I am one who likes chili and this savoury spicy version of chili suits this plate of HKM well even though there no belachan ground into it. Yellow (can’t taste that alkaline!) noodles and white beehoon is fried much like the mee goreng style of frying (just refer to that video!), simmered into its prawn broth. 3 small prawns but fresh, lots of pork belly slices, and a few slices of squid. Lard pieces rather generous but not as crispy as I had hoped them to be. I finished all $6 of it! I was expecting to get thirsty after the meal but I was not! Now, I can say it’s quite SHIOK for my first time eating at their Bishan outlet. PS: It means something when the staff eats HKM from their own stall too.

Choosing which Hokkien Mee in Singapore context is very much a personal preference. My sweet spot is Shiok Hokkien Mee Bishan. The young men manning the stall are hardworking, sincere and polite. They are trying their level best to hone their cooking craft. The noodles cooked may not be PERFECT for everyone, but for me, it hits a very sweet spot. SGD8 for a plate of comfort food with extra prawns, sotong, pork slices and egg is great value for money. Do come support our young hawkers to continue this proud heritage. GREAT WORK GUYS!!! KEEP IT UP!!! An empty plate speaks volume!!!

4.5 stars for taste but portions a bit small for $8 Medium lol. Turnover quite fast for 6.45pm Friday. Lots of meat, squid and prawns without adding extras. Chilli also nice not too strong or salty. Will come back and order $6 Small next time, and maybe the fried chicken from next door lol...

This stall came highly recommended to me by my wet hokkien mee loving brother who said he enjoys the wok hei as well as the crunch lard bits. I enjoyed the wetness of the noodles chocked full of fresh seafood and if you like spicy thb the chilli has a good kick to compliment the calamansi.

There are many below average hokkien mee out there, but I can’t say the same for Shiok Hokkien mee. I’ve tried a few of their outlets via grabfood delivery and they have been consistently good. This is the first time I’m eating it at the coffee shop so it was straight out from the wok. You can taste the sweetness, umami and wok hei from the dish. This is now my default hokkien mee go-to place.
