Many coffee options and the blends taste great. They don’t burn the coffee and it’s made fresh. Many sitting areas, some have air con, others don’t, which can be an issue in the summer. There’s an upstairs area that looked great to hang out, but it was too hot. There are a variety of sandwiches and pastries, but I did not get any. It looked good though.
View on GoogleA café with a very unique concept in Seongsu. Despite being surrounded by aesthetic and modern cafés, this place stands out by keeping the charm of an old building with minimal renovation. The staff were informative and able to speak simple English, which made ordering easier for tourists. We ordered a café latte and an iced chocolate drink with the amusing name “This Chocolate Latte Is the Best in Town.” The drinks were fairly standard, but the seating area was very comfortable. We sat on the rooftop and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere with the sound of birds chirping.
View on GoogleInteresting space and unique atmosphere, but the food and drinks didn’t quite live up to the hype. The Pandoro was surprisingly dry, the strawberry latte was average, and the house-made cola wasn’t to my taste. The salt bread was definitely the highlight and the best thing I tried. Worth visiting for the ambiance, but I’d come with more modest expectations for the menu.
View on GoogleThis popular cafe is located in Sungsu, near Sungsu station, and features a pre- and post-war-style interior with a worn, unpolished look. The interior feels unclean and run-down, which can be used for high fashion shoots to create a contrasting background. However, it might not appeal to everyone. Upon entering through the main door, you'll find a spacious cafe with baked goods displayed centrally. You can order drinks and pay for baked items at the counter. The selection includes many breads and pastries, but aside from the light and soft Pandoro dusted with icing sugar, the other pastries we sampled—such as the cheesebread, which was bland and lacked the expected cheese flavor—were underwhelming. The Americano, however, was good and complemented the baked goods well. Due to the crowd, service was slow, but overall, we felt the cafe’s reputation was somewhat overhyped in terms of quality and ambiance.
View on GoogleVisited Cafe Onion Seongsu recently and while it’s definitely one of Seoul’s more Instagram-famous cafés, I personally found it a little overhyped. The Seongsu branch does have a great atmosphere though, with three different seating options — rooftop, outdoor garden and the indoor dining space. We arrived around 3pm and the rooftop was already packed. Worth noting too that the staircase up is pretty steep, so it may not be ideal for anyone with knee issues or concerns with heights. The pastry selection is honestly the highlight here. Lots of variety and beautifully presented, although many of them lean quite sweet. The coffee, however, was a bit disappointing for me and could have used a stronger punch to balance the desserts better. That said, the space itself has plenty of aesthetic and IG-worthy moments, especially if you enjoy industrial-style cafés. Worth visiting if you have the time and want to experience one of Seoul’s more talked-about café spots — just go with expectations managed.
