The best place to buy some clothes, souvenirs, street foods and.. ..whiskies, I mean you can literally find a Peppy or limited Springbanks at the lower ground-floor from a few stores here.. like a flee market.
View on GoogleNamdaemun Market: Korea’s Largest Traditional Marketplace Donkey and I continued our cycling journey from Ikseon dong and made our way to Namdaemun Market which sits just under five kilometres away making it a convenient stop on our route. As the country’s biggest and oldest traditional market the sheer size of the venue is remarkable and the lively atmosphere we found there was truly unforgettable. Riding our bicycles through the expansive grounds allowed us to cover far more of the market than would have been possible on foot though we eventually left our bikes parked to explore the narrow alleys where special finds are waiting to be discovered. The range of products on offer is extraordinary encompassing everything from reasonably priced clothing and home goods to traditional handicrafts and local produce. Donkey and I were especially captivated by the vibrant street food culture which is one of the main attractions for visitors. We made a point of visiting the well known Kalguksu Alley and sampled the famous vegetable hotteok which had a perfectly crisp exterior and was filled with tasty glass noodles. The environment perfectly blends historic tradition with busy modern trade and we found all the vendors to be warm and welcoming even in the fast moving surroundings. Travelling between these iconic locations by bicycle has proven to be an excellent way to see the city as it gives us the flexibility to move easily between major cultural destinations like Namdaemun. The market is a feast for the senses filled with the sights and aromas of authentic Seoul life. For anyone seeking genuine Korean culture and some of the finest street food in the capital this is an essential destination. Donkey and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would strongly recommend it as a top priority for travellers exploring Seoul. View on GoogleCool market which is fun to explore for a bit. I had some street food a few times from some different stalls which was delicious. It can be good to grab some souvenirs. It can be a bit confusing as a lot of stalls/ areas are wholesale. A lot of the stalls are closed in the evening so better to visit during the day
View on GoogleLocal market with lots of made in Korea textiles and souvenir shops. Plenty of food options, like raw octopus, beef tartare, and the usual pancakes. Save your stomach for some desserts especially pastries and bread. Gets stuffy and humid so dress appropriately. Check out the surrounding area for wholesale clothes, wholesale pharmacies and the popular Hyundai outlets mall.
View on GoogleWow, what a place. I'd guess that no visit to Seoul would be complete without a trip to Nadaemun Market. With 10,000 stalls selling almost everything you'd be hard pressed not to find something you'd like. And if you're someone who likes to shop you could easily spend hours walking through the crowded streets and alleys. Some of the alleys specialize in food and there stalls that stretch for blocks.
