One of the best restaurants we have been to in Seoul: limited menu, efficient and quick service and super tasty food. Their soup is in top 5 soups I’ve tried in Japan and Korea I think. It has this “smoky” flavor - quite unique. Dumplings were good as well… had order another portion … It’s a must try for sure.
View on GoogleFinally got around to trying Kyoja Myeongdong and ended up going back twice because it was that good. Don’t let the line outside scare you off, it moves surprisingly quickly. Once seated, you order and pay straight away, and the food comes out fast and fresh. Each table also gets a jar of complimentary spicy kimchi, which is a nice touch. The kalguksu noodles were a standout - perfectly bouncy with a rich, comforting broth packed with pork mince and onions. The mandu dumplings were just as impressive: juicy, well-seasoned, and full of flavour. We also tried the cold soba noodles, which were refreshing and not spicy at all - paired with the mandu, it made for a great combination. Service was a bit hit-and-miss. On our first visit, one staff member seemed impatient and a bit dismissive, which took away from the experience. Thankfully, on our second visit, we were served by an older gentleman who was warm, polite, and much more welcoming. Overall, despite the minor service hiccup, the food easily makes this place worth visiting. Highly recommend!
View on GoogleMust-visit Michelin spot in Korea! We came back twice because it was just that good. - Noodle Soup: Comforting, naturally rich bone broth with a hint of pepper and chewy homemade noodles. - Spicy Cold Noodles: Bouncy green noodles in a flavorful, punchy sauce. Perfectly balanced and great for a warm day. - Dumplings: Thin skin, soft and fragrant filling. Absolutely delicious. - The Kimchi: Very spicy and sharp with a heavy kick of fresh garlic. Intense but addictive! - Service: Despite how busy it gets, the food arrives incredibly fast. Highly recommended for their efficient management!
View on GoogleDelicious food, bustling atmosphere, an instant classic! Their menu is not big, but each dish is executed well. My favourite are the Mandu and of course their famous Kalguksu (hand cut noodle soup). Those two are must orders; the flavours are incredibly deep and taste so comforting (especially on a chilly day). So good I went twice on my 1 week stay! Also, their kimchi is super strong and garlicky which I loved! They can be busy but the turnover rate is quicker than expected. If you que just before they open that is also a good option!
View on GoogleMyeongdong Kyoja is one of our last meals in Seoul Korea for our honeymoon. Being a one michellin restaurant, we were fortunate to be offered a seat pretty quickly. There is always a queue so it is recommended to come early. The signature noodle was heavenly as the taste of the broth is nothing i had tasted before. It had a tinge of char to the taste but really addictive. Mandu dumplings were ok and the summer special was alright as well.
