We have been to Seoul many times over the years but first time to visit this restaurant. Our relative found it on Google Maps and wanted us to try some old style soup dishes. It is in the area near our hotel in Myeongdong. It is hard to find as it is down a narrow alley to the end. Inside is old style tables and chairs. Our relative ordered for us and the food was quite good but a bit salty. Service was very casual and the place was a little noisy but pretty authentic old Seoul restaurant. Great fun to visit here.

The beef soup tastes clean and soul nourishing. Remember, these soups have broth that is not pre-seasoned so there is salt and pepper on the side to adjust it to your taste. The kimchi is wonderful but the daikon is the best I’ve had. The service is equally as amazing as the food. They were all wonderful in providing anything extra we needed.

Ate lunch here today (Saturday) at this seolleongtang place. No wait, seated quickly. Menu’s simple: just seolleongtang in different sizes. Got the small; food came out in under 3 minutes with a small bowl of beef noodle soup, rice, radish, and regular kimchi. Staff was very kind and they have forks. Couldn’t communicate since I don’t speak Korean, but it was yummy and lots of locals were eating there. In and out in under 30 minutes. Highly recommend.

An old restaurant dating back to 1966 that serves beef soup. It’s a very cool and authentic spot. A tip for foreigners: it’s a fairly simple and delicious broth without any unnecessary additives.

This was the first restaurant I visited upon returning to Seoul, and it really suited my taste. The dishes are prepared in an authentic way, and customers can adjust the flavor using the available condiments. The side kimchi is delicious, and the owner is always happy to offer more with a warm attitude. Although it’s tucked away at the end of an alley, I saw many locals dining there. The staff were very attentive and friendly, even with children.
