Very cute cafe which incorporates nature well within the building structure. There are multiple smaller buildings which connect with these small stepping stones over mini ponds. Very relaxing atmosphere! It is cool in the building too! Note: you find your own seats when entering then go back to order.
View on GoogleA café mixed with the nature. Very very cool environment. I've had the Souffle Castella and it was absolutely amazing. It's a bit hot when it arrived, but its combination with the honey and nuts was incredible. When you arrive, secure any table that you'd like, any will be great The most expensive desserts probably were designed to be shared, so bring your special ones.
View on GoogleToday, Donkey and I are continuing our cafe-hopping journey through the city, with our latest stop being the renowned Cheongsudang Bakery. Our visit required a bit of strategic planning; we initially arrived at 09:55, but upon learning they do not open until 10:30, we decided to explore the area and sample some local bread elsewhere before returning. By the time we headed back, a queue had already begun to form 15 minutes prior to opening, proving just how popular this "forest oasis" remains. Stepping inside is a truly immersive experience. The stone path crossing the lantern-lit pond creates a serene sanctuary that feels worlds apart from the urban bustle, perfectly setting the stage for the culinary delights to follow. The Pastries Following a recommendation from the staff, we ordered the Matcha Fromage Cake. It is a visual triumph, meticulously designed to mimic a moss-covered stone. The texture is exquisitely light, with the sophisticated, earthy bitterness of the premium matcha balanced perfectly by a velvety cream. It is as much a piece of art as it is a dessert. The Drink To complement the cake, we opted for the Stone Drip Egg Coffee. This signature beverage is a rare find; the creamy, custard-like foam on top adds a luxurious depth to the clean, robust drip coffee beneath. It is an indulgent choice that pairs harmoniously with the green tea notes of the fromage. Final Thoughts Despite the early queue, the experience was entirely worthwhile. The combination of the meditative atmosphere and the meticulous presentation of their menu makes Cheongsudang an essential stop for any enthusiast exploring Ikseon-dong. View on GoogleWorth the hype! Amazing desserts, amazing drinks! It's a bit hidden in the small alleys—look for the bamboo-lined entrance with the lanterns, and you'll know you're in the right place. Worth it to wait 20 minutes for the soufflé—it was super fresh and good. Love that they are very organized, clean, and have great options for seating. Keep in mind that you must find a seat first before ordering at the main entrance. We were five and easily found space for all of us!
View on GoogleKitty and I included this renowned establishment in our Ikseon-dong itinerary, and it certainly did not disappoint. For those planning a visit, please note that they open at 10.30 am. Although the shop officially opens at this time, when Kitty and I arrived at 10.00 am, there was already a substantial queue forming in anticipation of the doors opening. The wait was entirely worthwhile, as the premises are exceptionally pleasant and beautifully decorated. The entrance is truly magical, featuring stepping stones over a pond surrounded by bamboo and glowing lanterns. Inside, the indoor water features and lush greenery create a serene and therapeutic atmosphere, making it feel like a hidden forest oasis in the heart of the city. The coffee and the cake come highly recommended by the staff, and they were indeed excellent. The service is professional, and the counter area itself is a work of art with its moss covered stones. Furthermore, if you leave a Google review, the establishment provides a beautiful traditional Korean pendant as a complimentary gift. It is a lovely and thoughtful souvenir to take home. If you are exploring the Insadong or Ikseon-dong area, this is a quintessential visit for the incredible aesthetics and high quality refreshments. Just be mindful of the 10.30 am opening time and be prepared to queue early.
