View on GoogleStarfield Library (별마당 도서관) in Gangnam is one of those spaces that looks designed for photos, but still manages to feel functional when you’re actually inside it. It sits in the middle of COEX Mall, so you move from retail noise straight into a towering open space filled with bookshelves that rise across multiple floors. The scale is what hits first. It’s not a small reading area with decorative shelving, it’s a full architectural feature that happens to be a library. What stood out most was how people use it. Some are clearly there to take photos, but others are sitting quietly reading or working, and the space somehow accommodates both without collapsing into either extreme. It stays surprisingly calm considering how central and busy the location is. The shelves themselves are mostly visual impact, but there are still plenty of real books, and the layout encourages wandering rather than browsing with intent. You don’t go in with a plan. You just drift. After Gangnam’s pace outside, it feels slightly removed from everything without actually leaving the building. That contrast is what makes it memorable more than anything else. It’s a quick stop, but one that lingers longer in memory than the time you spend there. If you'd like to see more from our trip, find me on TikTok & Instagram: @eunikaway ✈️
View on GoogleDefinitely one of Seoul’s most impressive spaces. The huge bookshelves and open design are incredible to see in person. It does get busy and feels more like an attraction than a quiet library, but still well worth a visit if you’re at COEX
View on GoogleI visited the and was completely amazed by its breathtaking space. The library is filled with countless books, and the towering bookshelves stretching all the way to the ceiling make the place feel both unique and cozy at the same time. The warm yellow tones throughout the space add a comforting atmosphere. I came during xmas times, so everything was beautifully decorated with sparkling and dreamy festive displays. There are also several cafés inside, like Starbucks and % Arabica but I personally preferred the coffee at % Arabica. The flavor was rich and satisfying, making it the perfect companion for a warm, peaceful morning surrounded by books.
View on GoogleThe Starfield Library is a great place to visit while exploring COEX Mall. It was quite crowded when I went in the evening, though I imagine it would be much quieter earlier in the day. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and loved being surrounded by the towering bookshelves that stretch up several floors. The library is beautiful and makes for a unique spot to relax, read, or simply take in the impressive architecture. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re visiting COEX.
